 Abstract    Single crystals of AgSr[B70 , 2] were obtained by using a B20 3 flux-technique and Ag2C 0 3 and SrC 03 as starting materials in a silver ampoule at 800 °C. X-ray investigations on single crystals led to the space group C 2/c with a = 664.2(5); b = 1153.6(3); c = 2198.0(6) pm; ß = 92,52(3)°; Z = 8. Ag+ is fourfold coordinated by oxygen atoms and forms distorted A g04 tetrahedra while Sr2+ has nine nearest neighbours. The compound contains a hitherto unknown two dimensional borate anion [B70 i 2]3-which contains four trigonal planar B 0 3 groups and three B 0 4 tetrahedra per unit.

 Abstract    (V0)(P04)2 und BaC d(V 0)(P04)2: Zum BaZn(V0)(P04)2-Typ verwandte, jedoch nicht isotype Vanadylphosphate SrZ n(V 0)(P 04)2 and B a C d (V 0)(P 04)2: Vanadylphosphates Related but not Isotypic to the B aZ n (V 0)(P 04)2 Type Single crystals of the compounds S rZ n (V 0)(P 0 4)2 (I) and B aC d(V 0)(P04)2 (II) ha­ ve been prepared by solid state reactions in evacuated quartz tubes. X-ray investigati­ ons confirmed orthorhombic symmetry, space group D ^-P bca, lattice constants a/b/c (I): 9.066(1)/9 .0 1 2 (l)/l7.513(1) A and (II); 8.838(4)/8.915(4)/19.374(9) Ä, Z = 8. Initially assu­ med isotypies of (I) and (II) to B aZ n(V 0)(P 04)2 proved to be erroneous considering significant details of the connectivity of the Z n 0 4 and P 0 4 tetrahedra (I) and the coordination sphere of cadmium (II), respectively. The similarities and differences of the crystal chemistry relation to (I) and (II) are discussed with respect to B a Z n(V 0)(P 04)2. The Coulomb terms of the lattice energies of vanadyl M2(V 0)(P 0 4)2 and divanadyl M (V 0)2(P 0 4)2 phosphates are shown.

 Title    Planare C u 0 4-Polygone und eine einseitig offene Te4+0 3-Koordination in SrCuTe20 6 Planar C u 0 4 Polygons and a One-Sided Open Te4+0 3 Coordination in SrCuTe-,06 L  
 Abstract    The new compound SrCuTe20 6 has been prepared by quenching single crystals grown from a flux of SrC 03, T e02 and C uC 03 C u(0H)2. X-ray investigations show cubic symmetry, space group 0 7-P4| 32, lattice constant a = 12.473(1), Z = 12. The crystal structure is characterized by square planar C u 0 4 polygons and a one-sided open triangular oxygen coordination of Te4+, both incorporated in a Sr/O network. The one sided oxygen coordination of tellurium is completed by the lone pair of Te4+. Calculations of the Coulomb parts of lattice energy led to the position of the lone pair centre.
