 Title    Optimal Zeeman-NQR Powder Lineshape Calculations for 3/2^/^7/2  
 Abstract    The powder lineshapes, associated with Zeeman-NQR A\m\= +1 transitions for half-integer spin from 3/2 and 7/2 are derived using an optimized (6, (j)) sampling algorithm for the intensity response. The 1 = 3/2 system is examined over the full asymmetry range, whereas the I >3/2 lineshapes are calculated for rj^0.35. The algorithm adopted is modelled on the concepts in the earlier NMR lineshape calculations of Alderman, Solum, and Grant**.

 Title    N NQR Studies of Impurity Effects on the Local Structure of NaN0 2 -based Mixed Systems  
 Abstract    The influence of impurities on the 14 N NQR lineshape of Na 1 _^Ag c N0 2 and [NaN0 2 ],_,-[BN0 3 ]^ (B = Na, K) at room temperature has been investigated. Carrying out spectral analysis in conjunction with classification of the local field inhomogeneities according to the structurally isomorphic, Na]_ x Ag x N0 2 , and anisomorphic [NaNO^.JBNC^b systems, enabled an under-standing of the microscopic nature of impurity-induced local disorder. The iso-and anisomorphic systems reveal their own unique features of the impurity induced local disorder. They are charac-terized by a static, random distribution of impurities in the isomorphic system and a fast motion of the impurity-induced mobile point defects in the anisomorphic system. However, for both systems, neither a change of the 14 N NQR frequency nor a multisplitting of the lines is observed because of the relatively low symmetry.

 Title    Local Magnetic Fields in some Bismuth Compounds. A Survey of Experimental Evidences  
 Abstract    The splittings observed in the 209Bi nuclear quadrupole resonances of a-Bi?0 3, in zero magnetic field, follow the typical pattern of a Zeeman perturbed N Q R spectrum. The lineshapes in Bi30 4Br also indicate a poorly resolved splitting that points to the presence of an internal magnetic field in the order of 200 G. This exceeds notably the dipole nuclear magnetic fields (about several G), but is orders of magnitude smaller than paramagnetic fields produced by unpaired electron spins. The results obtained using a S Q U ID and ^SR-technique can also be interpreted as indicative of magnetic properties not conventionally expected in such compounds.

 Title    209Bi N Q R Powder Spectra Influenced by Local and Applied Magnetic Fields  
 Abstract    Several experimental techniques have shown evidence for the existence of internal magnetic fields of the order of 200 G in oc-Bi20 3 [1]. The asymmetrical 209Bi N Q R lineshapes in Bi30 4Br also point to a source of poorly resolved splitting present in this compound. In order to obtain further insight into the origin of the local magnetic fields in these compounds the 209Bi N Q R lineshapes of polycrystalline a-Bi20 3 and Bi30 4Br were recorded in weak (below 500 G) static magnetic fields. A calculation of the expected powder lineshapes in a-Bi20 3 under the influence of the internal and applied magnetic fields up to 1 kG was made. The results of the computer simulation are compared with the lineshapes recorded. From the 209Bi lineshapes ob­ served in the experiment, the local magnetic field at one of the two Bi-sites in Bi30 4Br was estimated.
