 Abstract    e n s ity a n d E le c tr ic a l C o n d u c tiv ity o f N a C l -C o C l 2 a n d N a C l -N i C l 2 M o lte n M ix tu r e s The density and electrical conductivity of cobalt and nickel dichlorides and their solutions in molten sodium chloride have been measured. The density was measured by a dilatometric method, and the electrical conductivity by an AC technique. The molar volume and equivalent conductance were calculated.

 Title    p, T Dependence of the Self Diffusion Coefficients and Densities in Liquid Silicone Oils  
 Abstract    Self diffusion coefficients and densities from a series of commercial silicones have been studied in the temperature range between 290 and 410 K at pressures up to 200 MPa. The densities are fitted to a modified Tait equation. The self diffusion coefficients are discussed in terms of the rough hard sphere model and tested against the Rouse-model.

 Abstract    The density and electrical conductivity of molten (2 K, Fe) Cl 2 , (2 K, Co) Cl 2 and (2 K, Ni) Cl 2 have been investigated. The density was measured by the maximum bubble pressure and dylatometric methods, the electrical conductivity by an AC technique. The molar volume and equivalent conduc-tance were calculated.

 Title    The Physical and Molecular Properties of New Low Melting Nematics with Negative Dielectric Anisotropy  
 Abstract    The paper presents some basic physical properties (static electric permittivities, refraction indices, density and viscosity) of 2-chloro-4-n'-alkylphenyl esters of 4-/r-alkylbicyclo[2,2,2] octane-1-carbox-ylic acids (n'=l, n = 5 and 7) which are, at room temperature, nematics with a negative dielectric an-isotropy. On the basis of temperature dependence of the principal static permittivities £ H (T) and e±(T) of the nematics, using the Maier-Meier equations, the angle between the dipole moment vector and the long axis of mesogenic molecules, the apparent molecular dipole moment square pl P[) {T), and the ne-matic order parameter S(T) were determined.

 Title    Thermodynamic Measurements on Selected Liquid Crystals at Normal and Elevated Pressures  
 Abstract    Densities have been determined for two 5-n-alkyl-2-(4-isothiocyanatophenyl)-l,3-dioxanes (6DBT, 10DBT), 4-n-tetradecyl-4'-cyanobiphenyl (14CB), 4-n-octyl-4'-thiocyanatobiphenyl (8BT) and two laterally aryl-branched mesogens 4-cyanobenzyl 5-(4-n-octyloxybenzoyloxy)-2-undecyloxybenzoate (4CNOUB), 3-cyanobenzyl 2,5-bis(4-n-octyloxybenzoyloxy)benzoate (3CN-BOB). The densities have been measured in the isotropic, nematic (only 3CNBOB) and smectic phases with a vibrating tube densimeter. The densities decrease with increasing alkyl chain length within a homologous series. Furthermore the enthalpy changes accompanying the phase transitions have been determined by DSC.

 Abstract    The densities of liquid mixtures in the systems AgCl-Ag2S, AgCl—Ag2Se, AgCl-Ag2Te, AgBr—Ag2Te, AgJ-Ag2Te and AgJ-Ag2S have been determined as a function of composition and temperature by a dilatometric method. The molvoluminaisotherms of the systems AgJ—Ag2S and AgJ-Ag2Te show negative deviations from ideality, the other systems behave ideally.
