 Title    Preparation and Crystal Structure of Ba6Sn2P6  
 Abstract    The new compound BaeSn2P6 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2i/c with lattice constants a = 883.7 ± 0.5 pm b = 1268.8 ± 0.8 pm c= 862.3 ± 0.5 pm ß = 114.42 ± 0.10°. The compound is isotypic to KeSn2Te6 and contains the Sn2P6 12_ -anions which are isosteric with the Sn2Te6 6_ -units.

 Abstract    The new compounds Ba2GeP2 and Ba2GeAs2 crystallize in the monoclinic system (space group P2i/c) with lattice constants: Ba2GeP2: a = 855.3 ± 0.5 pm, b = 951.5 ± 0.5 pm, c = 748.1 ± 0.5 pm, ß = 105.95 ± 0.08°. Ba2GeAso: a = 875.7 ± 0.5 pm, b = 970.0 ± 0.5 pm, c = 700.7 ± 0.5 pm, ß = 100.03 ± 0.08'. There are characteristic isolated Ge2P4 8_ and Ge2As4 8 ~ anions, which are arranged in sheets.

 Abstract    The new com pound Ba2Sb3 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2[/c (No. 14) with the lattice constants a = 693.4(3) pm , b = 1345.3(6) pm , c = 1581.7(6) pm, ß = 90.25(15)°. The compound is isotypic to the Sr2Sb3 structure with discrete Sb68-chain anions.

 Abstract    The new com pounds Sr3In2P4 and Ca3In2A s4 crystallize in the orthorhom bic system , space group Pnnm (N o. 58), with the follow ing lattice constants: Sr3In,P4: a = 1632.3(6), b = 682.8(3), c = 428.9(2); Ca3In2A s4: a = 1621.2(6), b = 659.5(3), c -430.6(2). In the anionic partial lattice InP4 (In A s4) tetrahedra are connected by com m on edges and corners and form (InP21-)" ((In A s23_)") strings o f alternating four-m em bered and eight-m em -bered rings.

 Abstract    NaGaSn, (trigonal; P3,12 (No. 151); a = 632.8(4), c = 617.0(3) pm, Z -1; d v = 5.33 g/cm 3) was grown from the melt. The crystal structure contains Ga and Sn atoms in a helical arrangement (six atoms per turn) along the c-axis direction. Interatomic bonding between neighbouring helices completes a distorted [2+2]-tetrahedral environment for every Ga/Sn position. The compound is classified in terms of the Zintl concept.

 Abstract    Anionen [MnP2]4' und [M!X2]5-(M11 = Zn, Cd, Hg; M1 = Cu, Ag; X = E15) in den Kaliumverbindungen und in Na4[HgP2] V ibrational S pectra and Force C onstants of the L inear A nions [M n P2]4-and [M IX 2]5" (M 11 = Z n, Cd, Hg; M 1 -Cu, Ag; X -E 15) in Potassium C om pounds and in N a4[H gP2] M eh m et S om er The vibrational spectra of the title compounds have been recorded and interpreted based on the symmetry o f the isolated linear anions [M X2]"~ (M = Cu, Ag, Zn, Cd. Hg; X = P, As, Sb). The calculated stretching force constants are: f(M n -P) = 1.89 {M11 = Zn}, 1.66 {Cd}, 1.83 {Hg} N cm -1 and f(C u -X) = 1.27 {X = P}, 0.99 {Sb} and f(A g -A s) = 0.93 N c m " 1 respectively. These are compared with those of the isoelectronic m olecules M nY 2 and [M'Y2]~ in relation to charge effects (M 11 = Zn, Cd, Hg; M 1 = Cu, Ag; Y = Cl, Br).

 Abstract    The compound Sr 5 Al 2 Sb 6 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system (space group Pnma (No. 62)) with the lattice constants: a = 1212.4(4) pm, b = 1034.1(4) pm, c = 1340.9(5) pm. AlSb 4 tetrahedra are connected via common edges and corners to chains. Every second terminal Sb atom of the chain is connected to another Sb atom, such that end-on Sb 2 groups and terminal Sb alternate. The compound Ba 5 In 2 Sb 6 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system (space group Pbam (No. 55)). The lattice constants are: a = 1530.7(6) pm, b = 1335.8(5) pm, c = 478.6(2) pm. In the structure, InSb 4 tetrahedra are connected via common corners and Sb 2 groups to form double chains. Both compounds are classified as Zintl phases.

 Abstract    [AlX4/2 3 ] und i |InP4/23 ]: Synthesen, Kristallstrukturen und Schwingungsspektren von Na3|AlX2], K2Na[AlX2] und K3IInP2] (X = P, As) Com pounds with SiS2 Isoelectronic Anions l [A1X4 23-] and i [InP4/23-]: Synthesis, Crystal Structures and Vibrational Spectra of N a3[AlX2], K 2Na[AlX2] and K 3[InP2] (X = P, As) The title compounds were prepared from stoichiometric mixtures o f the elements or from alkali metals (Na, K), NaX (KX) and MX (M = Al, In; X = P, As) at 1000 K. The crystal structures (Ibam, No. 72) are characterized by infinite chains o f edge sharing tetrahedra j, [MX4;,3'] (M = Al, In; X = P, As) which are isoelectronic to SiS2. The vibrational spectra can be interpreted with respect to the symmetry P(2/m 2/c) 42/ m -D 4h of the isolated polymeric chain ][M X 4(23"]. The assignment of the observed frequen­ cies is supported by a normal coordinate analysis using the fragment method.
