 Title    Kristallstrukturuntersuchung an einem Strontium-Vanadyl-Vanadat: Sr2(V 0 )V 20 8 Crystal Structure Investigation of the Strontium Vanadyl-Vanadate: Sr2( V 0 ) V 20 8  
 Abstract    Single crystals of Sr2(V 0)V 20 8 have been prepared by quenching melts from higher tem­ peratures. This compound represents a new structure type and crystallizes with monoclinic symmetry, space group C |h-I 2 la, a = 6.929, b = 16.246, c = 7.260 A, ß = 115.82°, Z = 4. The point positions occupied by V5+ show tetrahedral coordination. The refinement of the V4+ position led to split positions with acentric orientations of V4+ in the octahedral O2-surrounding. It results in a square pyramidal coordination with one short V -O distance typically for vanadyl groups.

 Title    Ag+ als Substituent eines Alkalimetalls in Ag2SrMnV20 8  
 Abstract    Single crystals of Ag2 SrM nV20 8 have been prepared by reactions of metallic silver and a mixture of S rC 0 3, M nC 03 HoO and V ?0 5. X-Ray investigations showed monoclinic symmetry, space group Cfh-C2/c, a = 9.7022(9), b = 5.5882(5), c = 13.894(1), ß = 90.41(1)°, Z = 4. The crystal structure is isotypic to N a2BaCuV20 8 and includes V 0 4 tetrahedra, M n 0 6 octahedra as well as irregular A g 0 8 and S rO !0 polyhedra. Ag2SrM nV20 8 is characterized by a [MnV20 8] network incorporating Ag+ and S r + or a [Ag2V 2Ö 8] frame incorporating Mn2+ and Sr2+ ions. Ag+ is able to replace an alkali ion in the cationic part of the crystal structure.

 Abstract    Single crystals of NaMg] 64Cu().36V 3O 10 have been prepared by heating mixtures of Na2C 0 3, M gC 03, CuO and V 20 5 above the melting point. The yellow crystals show triclinic symmetry, space group Cj-PT, a = 6.726(8), b = 6.743(7), c = 9.625(2) Ä , a = 100.705(9), ß -104.57(1), y = 101.700(9)°, Z = 2. N aM g164Cu0.36V 3O 10 represents a new structure type showing V 3O 10 groups, a statistical distribution of Mg2+ and Cu2+ on two point positions, and N a+ in an irregular coordination.

 Title    Ein Beitrag zur Kristallchemie von Verbindungen mit Johillerit-Struktur: On the Crystal Chemistry of Compounds with Johillerite Structure: KCo3 Cu(As2 5 8 V0 4 2 )O i2  
 Abstract    Single crystals of KCo3Cu(As2.58Vo42) 0 12 were prepared by solid state reactions below the melting point of the reaction mixture (K 2C 0 3, CuO, CoC20 4, V 20 5 and 3 A s20 5 -5 H 20) . It crystallizes with m onoclinic symmetry, space group C |h-C 2 lc, a = 12.207, b = 12.730, c = 6.811 A , ß = 113.69°, Z -4. The structure type is characterized by isolated twisted-square C u 0 4-polygons, C o 0 6-octahedra and a special 4+4-coordination o f the potassium ion. A s5+ and V*+ are in tetrahedral coordination with a partly statistical distribution of these ions.

 Abstract    Single crystals of K3CaV50 15 have been prepared by crystallization from melts. The com ­ pound shows a new structure type with orthorhombic symmetry, space group D ^-C m m a, a = 25.953(5), b = 15.688(3), c = 7.804(4) Ä , Z = 8. Typical features of K3CaV50 15 are isolated cyclic V40 12 and V60 18 groups o f corner sharing V 0 4 tetrahedra.

 Abstract    Single crystals o f K C a ^ V y O ,« have been prepared by crystallization from flux. The yellow-green crystals show rhombohedral symmetry (trigonal space group C3V-R3c, a = 10.830(1), c = 37.860(1) A , Z = 6). The differences o f the crystal chemistry are discussed with respect to the isotypic compound Ca3(V 0 4) 2. K + replaces exclusively Ca2+ ions at one deficient point position.

 Abstract    Single crystals of ra-Mg2CuV20 8 (I) and MgCu2V20 8 (II) have been prepared by solid state reactions. The orange (I) and dark red (II) crystals show monoclinic symmetry, space group C2h -P2,/c, (I): a = 6.167(3), b = 8.172(5), c = 6.400(8) Ä, ß = 116.22(3)°, Z = 2; (II): a = 6.453(1), b = 8.342(2), c = 11.517(2) Ä, ß = 90.44(2), Z = 4. Both compounds show ordered metal distributions and vanadium in tetrahedral coordination by oxygen. (I) is characterized by elongated C u06 octahedra and (II) by trigonal C u 0 5 bipyramids. ra-Mg2CuV20 8 is the low temperature form of the formerly investigated orthorhombic o-Mg2CuV2Ö8. Calculations of the Coulomb parts of the lattice energy of the two crystal forms are discussed.

 Abstract    Single crystals o f Ba5(M g0 4Mn0 6)(V20 7)2MnCl6 have been prepared by solid state reactions of M g C 0 3, Mn20 3, V20<i and BaCl2 -2H20 below the melting point of BaCl2. The new vanadium oxide chloride crystallizesowith monoclinic symmetry, space group C2h-P2/c, a = 13.345(4), b = 5.711(2), c = 15.859(4) Ä, ß = 113.69(2)°, Z = 2. Special features of the crystal structure are isolated MnCl6 octahedra and layers created by divanadat groups and (M g,M n)06 octahedra. The ^ [(Mg,Mn)V20 7] nets of Ba5(Mg0 4Mn0 6)(V20 7)2MnCl6 are discussed with respect to other oxohalogeno vanadates containing divanadate groups.

 Abstract    Single crystals of Ba(Ca<).6Mn0 4)V20 7 have been prepared by crystallization from melts. X-ray investigations revealed a new quaternary vanadium oxide of the type BaMV20 7. The M positions are occupied statistically by Ca2+ and Mn2+. The compound crystallizes wi|h orthorhombic symmetry, space group D^-Pnma, a = 15.429(2), b -5.7005(12), c = 7.364(2) A, Z = 4. The crystal structure can be interpreted as a [Ba(Ca,Mn)06] network with incorporated V-O-V groups. Considering the nearest O2-neighbours of the incorporated vanadium, the V-O-V groups are complemented to give V20 7 divanadate units. Ba(Ca« 6Mn0 4)V20 7 is isotypic to BaMV20 7 (M=Ca,Cd) but not to BaMnV20 7.

 Abstract    Single crystals of Ba2 ^C di^V O ^g have been prepared by solid state reactions. The new compound crystallizes with orthorhombic symmetry, space group D ^-Pbcn, a = 20.842(6), b = 13.471(3), c = 11.838(9) A, Z = 4. The crystal structure is characterized and dominated by C d 0 6 octahedra and unusual square pyramids of 0 2~ around Cd2+ forming a three-dimensional [C d ]|0 36] network. The interstices are occupied by V 5+ and Ba2+ ions. This results in V 0 4 tetrahedra and irregular BaO 10 polyhedra isolated from each other. Occupation of the barium positions is deficient in agreement with the valence state V5+ and calculations of the coulomb terms of lattice energy.
