 Title    Epicuticular Wax of Euphorbia aphylla Brouss. ex. Willd., Euphorbiaceae  
 Abstract    Quantity and composition of epicuticular wax of Euphorbia aphylla were examined. The wax contained the common lipid components «-alkanes, wax esters, pr. alcohols, fatty acids and in traces aldehydes and acetates all occurring in homologous series. Additionally, several triter-penols such as ß-amyrin, a-amyrin, lupeol and simiarenol were found. With the exception of simiarenol these triterpenols occurred free as well as esterified with acetic acid and fatty acids. The ketones, oleanen-3-one, ursen-3-one and lupen-3-one have also been identified.

 Title    Tetra-and Pentacyclic Triterpenoids from Epicuticular Wax of Euphorbia cyparissias L., Euphorbiaceae  
 Abstract    The epicuticular wax of Euphorbia cyparissias contains pentacyclic triterpenoids (34%) and primary alcohols (31%) as major com ponents. The major triterpenoids are triterpenols (23%) consisting o f a-and ß-amyrin, glutinol, 24-m ethylenecycloartenol and \p-taraxasterol. The triter­ penones (10.5%) are com posed of taraxerone. a -and ß-am yrinone, lupenone, glutinone, ty-taraxasterone, ß-fernenone and three further unidentified triterpenes. a-A m yrin was found esterified with hom ologous series o f fatty acids. Minor com ponents are alkanes, wax esters, aldehydes and free fatty acids.
