Title    Dodecamethyl Bisimidotriphosphoramide (TRIPA), Part III [1, 2] The Crystal and Molecular Structure of TRIPA H20
Abstract    The crystal and molecular structure of dodecamethyl bisimidotriphosphoramide mono-hydrate (TRIPA • H2O, C12H38N7O4P3) has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The compound crystallises in the monoclinic system, space group P2i/n with a = 9.236(3), b = 14.016(4), c = 17.534(5) A, ß = 97.32(4)°, Z = 4. The building units are dimers of TRIPA • H2O. These units are separated by normal van der Waals distances. The two molecules in the dimer are connected by four hydrogen bridges involving two water molecules. The nitrogen atoms display a nearly planar hybridisation.

Title    Zinkkomplexe kettenförmiger N3-Chelatliganden Zinc Complexes of Chain-Like N 3 Chelate Ligands
 Abstract    The title ligands bis[(2-pyridyl)methyl]amine (BPA) and bis[(2-benzimidazolyl)methyl]-methylamine (BBM A) were used to prepare complexes with zinc salts. 1:1 complexes o f BPA with ZnCl2, ZnBr2, Z n l2, Z n(SC N)2, Z n(C H 3COO)2, and Z n (N 0 3)2 as well as o f BBMA with ZnCl2, ZnBr2, and Z n (N 0 3)2 were obtained. Spectroscopic evidence indicates that all these complexes are five-coordinate molecular LZnX , units. With Zn(C104)2, BPA forms a 2:1 com plex presumed to be an octahedral ionic L2Z nX 2 species. The crystal structures o f B P A Z n C L and BBMA ■ ZnBr-, reveal distorted square pyramidal resp. trigonal bipyramidal molecular ge ometries.

Title    Dodecamethyl Bisimidotriphosphoramide (TRIPA) A Tridentate Ligand, Part II [1]
Abstract    In this article we describe the synthesis of TRIPA, dodecamethyl bisimidotriphosphor-amide (C12H36N7O3P3) and of its complexes with various lanthanide-nitrates. Five types of complexes have been isolated according to the compositions, X-ray diffraction patterns and IR spectra. 1. M(N03)3(TRIPA)3(acetone) M = La, Pr, Nd, 2. M(N03)3(TRIPA) M = Y, 3. M(N03)3(TRIPA)2(nitromethane) M = Er, Y, 4. M(N03)3(TRIPA)2(acetone) M = Sm, Gd, Dy, Er, Y (type I), 5. M(N03)3(TRIPA)2(acetone) M = Y (type II). The yttrium complexes, type I and II, are isomeric. IR spectra are given together with the NMR spectra. It is concluded that in all complexes the three TRIPA oxygens are coordinated, except in group 1. The nitrate groups in group 2 to 5 are involved in the coordination, particularly in the type 2 complex, where there are bidentate nitrate groups. There seems to be a difference in the conformation of the TRIPA molecules between the free ligand, the complexes in group 1, in group 2 and in group 3, 4, 5 Hygroscopic TRIPA can be easily confused with a stable mono-hydrate, TRIPA • H20.
