 Title    An Improved Assay of UV-induced Thymine-Containing Dimers in Saccharomyces Cerevisiae  
 Abstract    The method for assaying thymine-containing dimers in yeast is based on highly efficient ([3H]-deoxythymidine-5'-monophosphate) DNA-specific labelling and employs ascending thin layer chro­ matography. It allows satisfactory quantitative analysis down to UV-doses of 500 erg/mm2.

 Title    Isolation of Beef Brain Phosphonolipids by Thin Layer Chromatography: Their Identification and Silicic Acid Column Chromatographic Separation  
 Abstract    The isolation and identification of the phosphonolipids from beef brain — right lobe, left lobe and cerebellum — is herein reported. The phosphonolipids were isolated by pre­ parative thin layer chromatography (TLC) using the sol­ vent system methanol/water (2:1, v/v) and identified pre­ liminarily by TLC. The isolated phosphonolipids were sub­ jected to silicic acid column chromatographic separation and the thus separated phosphonolipids were identified by TLC, nitrogen-phosphorus determinations and IR spec­ troscopy.

 Title    Dihydrochalcones and Chalcones of Some Flavanone Glycosides: Qualitative and Quantitative Determinations  
 Abstract    The chalcones and dihydrochalcones of the flavanone glycosides naringin, neohesperidin and hesperidin were separated and identified by thin-layer chromatography; a similar procedure was utilized to perform preparative TLC for purification of these compounds. A new spectrophotometric method for the quantitative determination of dihydrochalcones in the concentration range from 0.005 to 0.100% in aqueous or alcoholic solution is described as well as a detection method of these compounds in agar media for micro­ biological studies.
