 Title    Zum System Bi20 3 /Bi2Se3/BiCl3,1. Das Zustandsdiagramm Bi20 3/Bi2Se3/BiCl3 On the System Bi20 3 /Bi2Se3/BiCl3,1. The Phase Diagram Bi20 3/B i2Se3/BiCl3
Abstract    The phase relations in the quaternary system Bi/Se/O/Cl have been studied and the existence of several new compounds in the pseudotemary area Bi20 3/Bi2Se3/BiCl3 has been established by solid state and chemical vapour transport reactions. The phase diagram is derived from X-ray powder diffraction and thermal analysisdata, and from measurements of the decomposition pressure behaviour. Three new quaternary phases with different compositions exist in the system: Bi40 4SeCl2, Bi10O 12SeCl4 and Bi220 28SeCl8. By estimation of the thermodynamic data of the quaternary phases it is possible to calculate complex heterogeneous chemical equilibria between all the binary, ternary and quaternary compounds of the phase diagram. As a result, we can describe thermodynamically the observed phase relations and the direction of thermal decomposition of the respective compounds.

 Abstract    n te r s u c h u n g e n z u m q u a s ib in ä r e n S y s te m B i2T e3 /B iC l3 Investigations on the Pseudobinary System Bi2Te3/BiCl3 The phase diagram of the pseudobinary sytem Bi2Te3/BiCl3 was investigated by DTA, total pressure measurements, and X-ray phase analysis. Only BiTeCl exists as a ternary phase in this system. The compound melts incongruently at 430 °C. The heat of formation and the standard entropy of BiTeCl were calculated from vapor pressure data: AH°b (BiTeCl, f, 298) = (-39,5 ± 1,6) kcal/mol; S° (BiTeCl, f, 298) = (34,4 ± 2,7) cal/K mol. The heat of formation of BiCl3 was determined on the basis of the heat of solution of BiCl3 and Bi20 3, and the heat of formation of Bi20 3: z\Hß (BiCl3, f, 298) = (-95,9 ± 0,9) kcal/mol.

Title    Untersuchungen zum quasibinären System Bi2Te3/BiBr3 Investigations on the Pseudobinary System Bi-,Te3/BiBr3
Abstract    The phase diagram of the pseudobinary sytem Bi2Te3/BiBr3 was investigated by DTA, total pressure measurements and X-ray phase analysis. Only BiTeBr exists as a ternary phase in this system. The compound melts congruently at 526 °C. The heat of formation and standard entropy were calculated from vapor pressure data: Z\H(BiTeBr, f, 298) = (-30,4 ± 1,4) kcal/mol; S°(BiTeBr, f, 298) = (36,2±2,9) cal/K mol.

Title    Untersuchungen zum chemischen Transport intermetallischer Phasen, I: GeTe, SnTe, PbTe Investigations on the Chemical Transport of Intermetallic Phases, I: GeTe
Abstract    GeTe, SnTe, and PbTe have been prepared by chemical transport reactions with iodine as transport agent in the temperature range between T2 (800 -700 °C) and T , (700 -500 °C). The effective transport equilibria were determineted. Total pressure measurements in the system Ge-Te-I give the coexistence equlibria for condensed phases, and also for the gasphase equilibra. GeTe4 exists only as a metastable phase at lower temperatures and decom poses near 260 °C in GeTe and Te. Thermodynamic calculations show satisfactory agreement between calculation and experi ment.
