 Title    Thermal Analysis of the Cadmium and Manganese Hydrogen Orthoarsenate Monohydrates (M HAs04 * H20, where M = Cd, Mn)  
 Abstract    The dehydration decomposition of cadmium and manganese hydrogen orthoarsenate monohydrates was studied by static isothermal and differential thermoanalytical methods. It was found that the dehydration decomposition takes place in a single stage forming the respective diarsenate, the peak minimum temperature being 458 K for the cadmium and 466 K for the manganese salt.

 Title    Crystallisation Processes in Metal Rich Rubidium Oxides  
 Abstract    On the basis of X-ray investigations a structural model for the orientational disorder of Rbg02 clusters in the rubidium suboxide RbeO is derived, which is in accordance with details of the thermal analysis of the ordering process. In the second part the thermal and structural investigations of a metastable phase of the probable composition Rbe,330 are described. The phase is formed by warming quenched samples Rb;rO (9 >x > 7) to co. 140 K and decomposes at ca. 183 K. Its cubic structure bears relationships to the structure of rubidium as well as to YBe6 (replacing B12 icosahedra in the latter compound by Rb atoms). A special DTA instrument used for the investigation of Rbe.330 is described.

 Title    Neue Modifikationen des Siliciumdioxids New Modifications of Silica  
 Abstract    A new family of modifications of silica is obtained by thermal dehydration of crystalline silicic acids with layer structures. Examples are SiC>2 0.11 H2O, SiC>2 • 0.04 H2O, SiC>2 prepared by dehydration of H2Sii4029 • 5.4 H2O, H^SisOi? • rrH^O and H2Si4C>9. The "water content" can amount up to 3 weight percent and results from uncondensed inter-layer silanol groups or from water molecules which are trapped between the layers. In some cases dehydration in the presence of organic interlayer molecules leads to different forms of silica.

 Title    Zur Kenntnis von Be[C2(C O O )2] * 4 H20 - Ein durch starke Wasserstoffbrückenbindungen stabilisiertes anorganisches Derivat der Acetylendicarbonsäure On Be[C2(COO)2]-4 H 20 -An Inorganic Derivative of Acetylenedicarboxylic Acid Stabilized by Strong Hydrogen Bonding  
 Abstract    Colorless orthorhombic single crystals o f Be[C2(COO)2] • 4 H 20 were grown in aqueous silica gel. Space group Cmcm, a = 1004.7(1), b = 675.0(1), c = 1262.4(2) pm, Rg = 0.0264. The crys­ tal structure consists o f Be(H20)^+ tetrahedra and planar [C2(COO)2]2' anions linked together by strong asymmetric hydrogen bonds. A layer-like arrangement extending parallel (010) made up by [C2(COO)2]2~ anions and hydrogen bound water m olecules o f the Be(H20)^ + tetra­ hedra is the primary structural feature o f Be[C,(COO)2] -4 H 20 . These layers are stacked and interlinked by coordinative bonds between Be^+ and H 20 to yield a rigid three-dimensional framework. Thermal decom position com m ences with endotherm ic loss o f water o f crystallisa­ tion at 160 °C followed by several steps o f exothermic degradation yielding finally a soot-like am orphous residue.
