| Combination of EXAFS and Differential Anomalous X-ray Scattering for Studying Ni 2 Zr Amorphous Alloy | | | Abstract
| In this paper we report a first application of the new idea of combining EXAFS and differential anomalous scattering techniques to obtain partial distribution functions for a binary amorphous sample. This method has been successfully employed in extracting Ni-Ni and Ni-Zr pair distribu-tion functions for Ni 2 Zr prepared by mechanical alloying. A comparison with results from previous studies is also reported. | | |

| Electron Momentum Densities by (y, e y)-Spectroscopy | | | Abstract
| We report coincidence measurements of inelastically scattered 148 keV photons and the recoil electrons generated within thin Al and Cu foils. We have analyzed both the Doppler broadening of the scattered photon intensity and the angular correlation of the recoil electron. This corresponds to different scans through the three-dimensional electron momentum density of the target. Estimates of the triple-differential cross-section for Compton scattering are given. The experiment was per-formed with synchrotron radiation from a bending magnet of the DORIS storage ring at DESY, Hamburg. | | |

Applying the "optical theorem", the observed dipolar anisotropics can be explained in terms of the projection of the dipole momentum operator on the polarisation vector of the X-ray photons.

The energy dependence of the reflection intensities of ZnFe20 4, detected at the Fe K and Zn K absorption edges, can only be explained when all Zn2+ being allocated to the tetrahedral site formed by oxygens. On the other hand, the results for CoFe20 4 suggest that 78% of Co2+ occupy the octahedral site, and that the present CoFe20 4 sample is classified as inverse spinel, although a partial disorder is included. The usefulness of this AXS method coupled with the common Rietveld analysis was well-recognized by determining the cation distribution even in a system with next neighboring elements of the periodic table.
