 Abstract    From new DT A and powder diffraction measurements in the binary system sulfur-chlorine a consistent construction of the melting diagram for the region 50—100 atom-% Cl was possible. It contains sulfur chlorides of the elemental ratios 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, and 1:4 as the stable intermediate phases, which melt at -8 0 °C (congr.), —125 °C (incongr.), —75 °C (incongr.) and — 34 °C (congr.), respectively. SCI is S2C12 as characterized by its crystal structure by R. Kniep, L. Korte

 Abstract    The crystal structure of SCl 3 + AsF 6 ~ is reported. The mean S-Cl stretching frequency v of the SC1 3 + cations, weighted according to the degree of degeneration, in the different SC1 3 + X~ salts is directly proportional to the mean S-Cl distance r scl , the force constant f sci and the sulfur.. .anion distance (C1 3 S + .. .X"). That SC1 3 + C1" should be isostructural with PC1 4 ~, the large variation in the S-Cl stretching frequencies in the SC1 3 + X~ salts is due to cation-anion interaction forces.

 Abstract    Trifhiormethyldichlorsulfonium(IV)-hexafluoroarsenat(V) Contributions to the Chemistry of Sulfur Halides, 9 [1] Trifluorom ethyldichlorosulfonium (IV) H exafluoroarsenate(V) The synthesis of CF3SC12+A sF6_ is reported. The sulfonium salt is characterised by IR , Ram an, l9F and l3C NMR spectroscopy. The vibrational assignment is based on a Cs model for the cation and assisted by a normal coordinate analysis. The crystal structure has been determ ined from three-dimensional diffractom eter data at —133 K. The structural data for the cation are: C -F = 128.8(5) pm, C -S = 197,8(3) pm, S -C l -195,9(1) pm and F -C -F -111,8(3)°, C l -S -C l = 104,22(5)°, C -S -C l -99,8(1)°.
