 Title    Eightfold Functionalization of the Octasilsesquioxane Core  
 Abstract    Eightfold functionalized octasilsesquioxanes (R8Si80 12) are synthesized using the hydro­ silylation method. D ifferent types of groups R, consisting of an (-0 -S i M e 2(CH 2)2) spacer unit and various terminal units (-C H 2(C2M e)B 1oH1o, -C 5H 3M eM n(CO)3, -S iM e2C5H 4FeC5H 5 , -S iM e2Cl, -SiM eC l2, -S i(O E t)3) have been introduced. The hydro­ silylation products have been characterized by 'H, 13C, 29Si NMR and infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The redox properties of the ferrocenyl substituted compound have been studied by cyclovoltammetry. Results

 Abstract    C om pounds of the general formula (CM e3)2Si(R)O H , (R = Cl, O H . N H :) react with «-C 4H,,Li or Na to give the alkali silanolates 1—5 .1 —5 serve as starting materials in the reactionsw ithchlorosilanes for the synthesis o f siloxanes (6—12). Ring closure reactions of dilithiated 9 ,1 1 , and 12 occur with SiCl4 (13) and C l,SiM e, (15, 16). 13 contains an (SiO)4. 15 an Si(O SiN),Si. and 16 an 0 (S i0 S i) ,N eight-m em bered ring. Hydrolysis o f 13 leads to the formation o f the hydroxy-substituted eight-m em bered ring 14. The crystal structures of (C M e3),S i(O H) —O —SiM e, —Ö —(H ,N)S i(C M e3), (11) and M e,Si[O Si(C M e3),N H ],S iM e, (15) are reported and discussed.

 Title    Synthesis and Structure of Eight-Membered Titanium Containing Siloxane Rings  
 Abstract    The preparation by different methods o f the eight-membered ring com pounds (R 'X T i0S iR 220) 2 is reported: (2: R' = C5H 5, X=C1, R2=/Bu; 3: R '= N (S iM e3)2, X=C1, R 2=/Bu; 4: R' = C 5M e5, X = C1, R 2=Ph; 6: R' = X = N E t2, R 2=fB u). The six-membered ring Ph2SiO[OTiC5M e5(Cl)]2 5 is formed together with 4 by the reaction o f C5M e5TiCl3 and Ph2Si(OLi)2. Com pounds 2 and 4 have been characterized by X-ray structural analysis.

 Title    NMR-spektroskopische Untersuchungen zur Hydrolyse von funktionellen Trialkoxysilanen NMR-Spectroscopic Investigations on the Hydrolysis of Functional Trialkoxysilanes  
 Abstract    The hydrolysis of functional trialkoxysilanes was studied under various conditions by 'H NMR spectroscopy. The silane concentration was 1 -2% by weight in a water/acetone-system. Under these conditions, the reaction was found to be first order. In detail, influence of pH, grade of stirring, and size and structure of functional groups of the alkyltrialkoxysilanes were investigated in order to compare the relative reaction rates of the different compounds.

 Abstract    A heterogenized rhodium complex, prepared by sol-gel processing of Rh(CO)Cl[PPh2C H 2C H 2Si(OEt)3]2 and Si(OEt)4, is shown to catalyze the conversion of the si­ lanes H4_"SiPh" (n = 1 -3) or (H M e2Si)20 to (poly)siloxanes by air or water. Using T H F as a solvent, the silanoles Ph3SiOH or Ph2Si(OH)2 are obtained instead. The reaction of phenyl-acetic acid or acetic acid with HSiPh3 to give silyl esters is catalyzed by the same com pound.
