 Title    Synthesis of Novel Tetracarboxylato Dirhenium(III) Compounds and Crystal Structure of [Re2 (l-Adamantylcarboxylate)4Cl2] * 4 CHC13  
 Abstract    The coordination compounds o f the general formula Re2 (1^ 4X2 (X = Cl, Br; L = 1 -adamantyl-carboxylate and 1 -adamantylacetate) have been prepared and characterized by means of UV-VIS spectroscopy (20000 cm-1 , 6 —► 6*). The crystal and molecular structure of Re2(AdCOO)4Cl2 • 4 CHCI3 solvate was determined by X-ray diffraction. The units Re2(AdCOO)4Cl2 adopt a centrosymmetric dinuclear array with each metal atom coordinated in a distorted octahedron comprising one rhenium and one chlorine atoms (Re-Cl 2.505(2) A) and four carboxylate oxygen atoms in the equatorial plane. The rhenium-rhenium separation of 2.2300(5) A corre­ sponds to quadruple bond between the metal atoms. All R e-0 bonds have an almost uniform length (2.017(4) -2.032(4) A) and do not differ essentially from the parameters reported for related compounds. The closest environment of the Re2(AdCOO)4Cl2 molecules in the crystal comprises weak Cl— HC hydrogen bonds with the chloroform molecules and significantly shortened van der Waals contacts Cl— Cl, 3.46 A.

 Abstract    The reactions o f the tridentate ligands (M e3S i),N C (4 -R Q H A)N P P h ,N S iM e, [(1): R = H, (2): R = C F 3] with Re2Ov yield the six-membered rings (4-R C 6H 4C N PPh2N R e 0 2IsI)2 [(3): R = H, (4): R = C F 3], The acyclic com pound M e3SiN C (4-C F3C6H 4)N P Ph2N R eÖ 2O SiM e3 (5) has been obtained by reaction o f 2 with Me^SiOReOy 2 reacts quantitatively with TeCl4 to form the metallacycle 4-C F3C6H4tN P P h 2N TeC lN • pyridine (6) • pyridine. The molecular structures o f 4 • CH 2C12 and 6 • pyridine • 0.5 toluene have been determined by X-ray diffraction.

 Abstract    The binuclear anions Na2[(0C)4MP(0)R2]2 (2a, a', b, b') [M = Mn: R = CH3 (a), C6H5 (a'); M = Re: R = CH3 (b), CßHs (b')] can be obtained quantitatively by reduction of the phosphinic acid complexes (OC)4BrMP(OH)R2 (la, a', b, b') with sodium amalgam in ether. While the manganate anions 2 a, a' can be transformed with excess sodium into the mononuclear salts Na2[(0C)4MnP(0)R2] (3 a, a'), with two nucleophilic centres, the corresponding anions 2 b, b' eliminate CO to give sparingly soluble species. From 3 a, a' and dimethylsulphate the doubly methylated compounds CH3Mn(CO)4P(OCH3)R2 (4a, a') are obtained. The rhenium derivatives CH3Re(CO)4P(OCH3)R2 (4b, b') are formed only in very poor yields from 2 b, b' and dimethylsulphate under reductive conditions. The IR, *H NMR, and mass spectra are discussed.

 Abstract    The isomorphous crystal structures of the manganese and rhenium bromotricarbonyl complexes 2 a, b have been determined at room temperature (Mn) and at —110 °C (Mn, Re; P2x/c, Z — 4). At room temperature, data collection is accompanied by crystal decomposi-tion, and a cleavage of the PPh3 group is suggested by the results as the primary process. The same initial step is thought to be valid for the photodecomposition in solution. The main structural difference between the free and coordinated betaine ligand 1 is the reduced electrostatic interaction of P and S in the complexed form. Einführung

 Abstract    R eN C l2(P M e2Ph)3 reacts as a Lewis base and with BC13 forms a nitrido bridge betw een Re and B. The resulting com plex R e(N B C l3)Cl2(PM e2Ph)3 crystallizes orthorhom bic in the space group Pn2! a with Z = 4. In the com plex each Re atom has six nearest neighbours in an almost octahedral arrangement with the NBC13 group being trans to one o f the Cl ligands. The difference betw een the two Re —Cl bond lengths (239,4 and 243,9 pm) indicates a weak trans effect o f NBC13. The linear bridge R e = N — B has bonding distances o f R e —N = 172,8 and N -B = 153 pm. B onding o f BC13 by the nitrido ligand causes a small

 Abstract    Reaction o f (N-trimethylsilyl)-a:-aminopicolin with the rhenium(V) oxohalogenide (j75-C5M e5)ReO Cl2 (Me = C H 3) exemplifies a simple, clean synthesis o f im ido-m etallo-siloxanes, com pounds o f the structure R3S iO -M = N -R '. The com pound (//5-C5M e5)ReCl[OSi(CH3)3](N C H 2-2 -C 5H4N) thus formed under HC1 elimination has a square-pyramidal molecular structure (single crystal X-ray diffraction).

 Title    The Crystal Structures of Re2Al, Re4Alu, and ReAl6  
 Abstract    of the rhenium aluminides Re4Aln and ReAl6 were obtained by reaction of rhenium with an excess of aluminum. Re4Aln was found to be isotypic with Mn4Alu. The MnAl6 type structure of ReAl6 was confirmed. The crystal structures of both compounds were refined from single-crystal X-ray data. Re4Aln :P l, Z = 1, a = 516.0(1) pm, b = 896.3(2) pm, c = 516.9(1) pm, a = 90.44(1)°, ß = 99.76(1)°, y = 105.17(1)°, V = 0.2271 nm3, R = 0.036 for 2315 structure factors and 74 variable parameters. ReAl6: Cmcm, Z = 4, a -761.0(1) pm, b = 660.5(1) pm, c = 903.4(1) pm, V = 0.4541 nm3, R = 0.013 for 711 F values and 23 variables. In both structures the rhenium atoms have ten aluminum neighbors at distances from 245 to 277 pm. The A l-A l distances cover the whole range from 251 to 362 pm rather continuously. The previously reported compound Re2Al with the tetragonal MoSi2-type struc­ ture has the lattice constants a = 298.1(1) pm, c = 958.4(4) pm, V = 0.08519 nm3. ReAl6 shows Pauli-paramagnetism.
