 Title    Zur Genese der amidisch an den Chromophor von Pyoverdinen gebundenen Dicarbonsäuren |1] On the Genesis of the Dicarboxylic Acids Bound Amidically to the C hrom ophor of the Pyoverdins [1]  
 Abstract    Pseudomonas strains o f the so-called fluorescent group usually produce several pyoverdins which differ only in the nature o f a dicarboxylic acid bound amidically to the chromophor. For the pyoverdins isolated from the culture medium o f Pseudomonas fluorescens 12 it is shown that succinic acid is an artefact formed by hydrolysis o f succinic amide, and that a-ketoglutaric acid is transformed enzymatically to glutamic acid. This process is reversed after the phase o f exponential growth o f the bacteria. The ratio C4-vs. C 5-acids changes with the culture time and with increasing Fe3+ content o f the medium in favor o f the latter.

 Title    New Pyoverdin-Type Siderophores from Pseudomonas fluorescens [1]  
 Abstract    The structures o f two new pyoverdins (G M -I and G M -II) isolated from the culture medium of Pseudomonas fluorescens have been elucidated by spectroscopic methods and degradation studies. The pyoverdins consist o f a chrom ophore which could be identified as (1 S)-5-amino-2,3-dihydro-8,9-dihydroxy-1 H -pyrim ido[l,2-a]quinoline-l-carboxylic acid substituted at the amino group with a 3-carboxypropanoyl or a succinamoyl residue and at the carboxy group with the N-terminus o f D -A l a -D -L y s —G l y -G ly -D -t h r e o -(O H) A s p -D -G lu -D -S e r — L -A l a -D -A l a -D -A l a -L -A l a -L -N 5-(O H)O rn . According to the "short-hand" nomenclature proposed in [2]*** the two com pounds should be characterized as pyoverdin-Q-akG Gd'qsAaaAO '*-SUCA and pyoverdin-Q-akGG d'qsAaaAO '*-SUC.

 Abstract    From a strain of Pseudomonas fluorescens pseudobactin and several related compounds were isolated and their structures were elucidated. In this way a reference compound (5) could be obtained for the unambiguous determination of the absolute configuration of C-l of the pyoverdin chromophore in newly isolated representatives of this class.

 Title    Ferribactins -the Biogenetic Precursors of Pyoverdins [1]  
 Abstract    From ferribactins which accompany pyoverdins in iron deficient cultures of fluorescent pseudomonads a subunit has been obtained formed by condensation of D-tyrosin with L-2,4-diaminobutyric acid to give 2-(l-./?-amino-2-/?-hydroxyphenylethyl)-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-pyrimidine-4-S'-carboxylic acid (1). Evidence is presented that 1 is the precursor of the typical pyoverdin chromophore 7 a.

 Abstract    From a genetically manipulated strain o f Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15692 (PAO 1 strain) a com pound named pseudoverdin, 3-form ylam ino-6,7-dihydroxycoumarin, was obtained which is related to the typical pyoverdin chromophore and thus allows to shed some light on the biogenesis o f the latter.
