 Title    The Structure of the Pyoverdin from Pseudomonas fluorescens 1.3. Structural and Biological Relationships of Pyoverdins from Different Strains  
 Abstract    The structure of the pyoverdin siderophore of Pseudomonas fluorescens 1.3 was elucidated by spectroscopic methods and chemical degradation. It shows structural similarities with the pyoverdins of several other strains. W hether mutual recognition occurs was investigated by growth tests.

 Title    The Pyoverdins of Pseudomonas sp. 9 6 -3 1 2 and 96-318^  
 Abstract    The structures of the pyoverdins isolated from the Pseudomonas spp. 9 6 -3 1 2 and 9 6 -318 were elucidated by spectroscopic and degradation techniques. As observed before for Pseudomonas spp. producing pyoverdins with a C-terminal cyclopeptidic substructure, the two strains can recognize to some extent structurally different pyoverdins as long as they have also a similar cyclopeptidic C-terminus.

 Abstract    The Biogenesis o f Pseudomonas Siderophores: The P ro o f o f A nalogous Structures o f a P yoverdin/D esferriferribactin Pair [1] When grown in an iron-deficient medium Pseudomonas aptata produces both a desferri-fer-ribactin and a pyoverdin. The identical sequence o f the peptide chain confirms the hypothesis that desferri-ferribactins are the biogenetic precursors o f pyoverdins.

 Title    Biogenesis of the Pyoverdin Chromophore  
 Abstract    A fter growing Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the presence of 2 ,4-[4-15N]-diaminobutyric acid (D ab) its incorporation into the quinoline chromophore of the pyoverdin produced by this bacterium could be shown by mass and NM R-spectroscopic techniques. In combination with earlier results it can thus be stated that the precursor of the chrom ophore is a condensation product of L-Dab and D-Phe or D-Tyr. A synthesis for [4 -15N ]-D ab is described.

 Title    The Siderophores of Pseudomonas fluorescens 18.1 and the Importance of Cyclopeptidic Substructures for the Recognition at the Cell Surface  
 Abstract    The structure of the pyoverdin siderophore of Pseudomonas fluorescens 18.1 was eluci­ dated by spectroscopic methods and chemical degradation. By cross feeding studies structur­ ally closely related pyoverdins containing a C-terminal cyclopeptidic substructure were tested regarding the mutual recognition by the producing strains. Partial recognition of foreign pyoverdins was observed.

 Title    Pyoverdin, Ferribactin, Azotobactin -a New Triade of Siderophores from Pseudomonas chlororaphis ATCC 9446 and Its Relation to Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC 13525  
 Abstract    It is shown that Pseudomonas fluorescens A T C C 13525 and Pseudomonas chlororaphis A T C C 9446 produce identical pyoverdins and ferribactins. As the structures o f these sidero­ phores are usually species or even strain specific this exception should be kept in mind in view of the reclassification of the genus Pseudomonas. From Pseudomonas chlororaphis an additional siderophore could be obtained which has the same peptide chain as the co-occur­ ring pyoverdins and ferribactin, but a chromophore which is typical for azotobactins from A zotobacter vinelandii.
