 Title    Phasenbeziehungen im System As2Te3—Asl3 und die Kristallstruktur von As5Te7I Phase Relations in the System As2Te3-Asl3 and the Crystal Structure of AssTe7l  
 Abstract    The system As2Te3-Asl3 is quasibinary and includes the intermediate phases AssTe7l and a-AsTel with incongruent melting behaviour. The crystal structure of AssTe7l contains ribbons of condensed octahedral chains sharing common edges. Arsenic atoms are situated in the centres of the octahedra and -in a trigonal-pyramidal arrangement -at the borders of the ribbons. There are close relationships between the crystal structures of As2Te3 and AssTe7l as well as As5Te7I and a-AsTel. The particular expansion of the AsöTe7l one-phase region within the quasibinary system is discussed with respect to these structural relations.

 Abstract    From new DT A and powder diffraction measurements in the binary system sulfur-chlorine a consistent construction of the melting diagram for the region 50—100 atom-% Cl was possible. It contains sulfur chlorides of the elemental ratios 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, and 1:4 as the stable intermediate phases, which melt at -8 0 °C (congr.), —125 °C (incongr.), —75 °C (incongr.) and — 34 °C (congr.), respectively. SCI is S2C12 as characterized by its crystal structure by R. Kniep, L. Korte

 Abstract    The pseudobinary systems E T e-E T eH a l (E/H al = A l/I,Br; G a/I.B r,C l; In/I,Br) contain the intermediate phases E3Te3Hal, having incongruent melting behavior (decom position at temperatures between 386 °C and 718 °C). The crystal structures (orthorhombic, Pnma) o f the isotypic ternary phases contain one-dim ensional macrom olecules, in which (Te3 3EInHal)-tetrahedra and (Te3 3G a2nTe3/3) units (staggered conform ation) are linked by com m on T e -T e -edges. The macromolecules can be described in terms o f fragments o f an ETe-crystal structure o f the GaTe structural type. In this way, halogen acts as an oxidizing agent which then satu­ rates the free valence at the Em positions. Larger fragments o f a respective ETe-crystal struc­ ture are expected to be present in the crystal structure o f InTeC lv (x ~ 0.16) which is an inter­ mediate phase (m.p. = 418 °C; incongruent) in the quasibinary system In T e-In T eC l.

 Title    Crystal Growth and Optical Absorption of Compounds InXY [X = Se, Te; Y = Cl, Br, I]  
 Abstract    The systems IngXs-InYs (X = Se, Te; Y = Cl, Br, I) are quasibinary and contain the intermediate ternary compounds InXY with incongruent melting behaviour. InSeCl and InSeBr show a significant phase width towards the respective trihalides. InTeCl is di-morphous with a stable a-and a metastable ^-modification. Crystals of the ternary compounds are grown by Bridgman technique and their optical absorption behaviour is studied. Phase relations as well as optical absorption are discussed with respect to the various crystal structures of the intermediate ternary phases.

 Abstract    -NbJC 02 zu den binären und ternären Phasen der Subsysteme V 0 2/N b 02/V20 3 und V 0 2/N b 0 2/V20 5/Nb20 5 The Phase Relations in the System V /N b/O , III C oexistance R elations o f M ixed C rystals V j_ xN bxOT to the Binary and Ternary Phases o f Subsystem s V 0 2/N b 0 2/V 20 3 and V 0 2/N b 0 2/V 20 5/N b 20 5 Mixed crystals V|_^NbA0 2 exist about the whole area of quasibinary line V 0 2-N b02. The phase relations between these compositions V 0 2-N b 02 and the binary and ternary phases of the described subsystems were cleared using chemical transport reactions (CTR) and solid state reactions. A more precise phase diagram of the ternary system V/Nb/O is given for the temperature range of 900 -1000°C.
