 Abstract    The bifunctional 2,3-dihydro-2-methoxyethylimino-l,3-dimethylimidazole (C8H 15N30 , 10) is obtained from the reaction of methoxyethyl tosylate (7) and 2,3-dihydro-2-imino-l,3-dimethylimidazole (8) followed by deprotonation in good yield. 10 reacts with {(COD)RhCl}2 (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) to give the imine complex (C8H 15N30)Rh(C0D)Cl (11), which is converted into the chelate complex [(C8H 15N30)Rh(C0D)]BF4 (12) on treatment with AgBF4. The imine complex (C8H 15N30) 2PdCl2 (13) is formed through the reaction of 10 with (PhCN)2PdCl2. The X-ray structures of 11, 13 and 2 C8H 15N30 • H2PdCl4 (15) are reported. R R 1 Rv -■

 Title    Eine neue Synthese von Fluorphosphonat-Komplexen des Palladiums und Platins A New Synthesis of Fluorophosphonato Complexes of Palladium and Platinum  
 Abstract    Addition of phosphorus(III) ligands, L (L = tertiary phosphine, phosphite) to the reaction mixture of allyldifluorophosphite (1) with (C 6 H5CN)2MCl2 (2) (M = Pd, Pt) was found to produce two types of products: after a shorter reaction period, monofluoro-phosphonate complexes of the previously known type £rans-L2MCl(POF2) (6) are obtained while over prolonged periods of time bis-fluorophosphonato complexes, Zrans-L2M(POF2)2 (7) are formed. By contrast, Bu"OPF2 (8) yields a mixture of «rans-L2PtCl(POF2) (6) and <rons-L2PtCl[(Bu"0)(F)P0] (10) (L = Ph3P), the latter originating from (Bu re O)2PF formed by ligand scrambling in Bu*OPF2; no products containing more than one fluorophos-phonate group are formed in this case. The new monofluorophosphite, (CH2 = CHCH20)2PF (10) was found to react rapidly with (C6H5CN)2PtCl2/L with formation of L2PtCl[(CH2==CHCH20)(F)P0] (11). Compound characterization was by IR, 19 F and 31 P NMR spectroscopy.

 Title    Zur Kenntnis farbiger ternärer und quaternärer Zintl-Phasen Coloured Ternary and Quaternary Zintl-Phases  
 Abstract    Ternary and quaternary, mostly coloured compounds of Au, Pd and Pt, resp., with Li, Mg, Sc and Sn were prepared and structurally investigated. They crystallize in a "filled" Zinkblende type structure (space group F?3m) and can be characterized as ternary or quaternary Zintl-phases. Colours seem to depend on unfilled d-orbitals of Au, Pd or Pt.

 Abstract    A series of mono and bis N,O-chelate complexes 1-32 with the mono and dianion of indigo and indigo derivatives (R3P)(C1)M(L-H+) (M = Pd.Pt), (r/3-allyl)Pd(L-H+), (PhiC=NCH->CO->Et-H+)Pd(L-H+), (PhN=NPh-H+)Pd(L-H+), (Q H 5)Fe(C5H3CH2NMe2)Pd(L-H+), [(R3P)(Cl)Pt]2(L-2H+), [(//3-allyl)Pd]2(L-2H+), [(C6H4CH2N M e2)Pd]2(L-2H+) with L = indigo, 4,4'-dichloro-, 6,6'-dichloro-, 6,6'-dibromo-, 6,6'-di-»Bu-, 4,4'-dichloro-, 5.5'dibromo-, 5,5', 6,6'-tetramethoxy-, 4.4'-di-S]2H25-, 5,5'-di-SO?Na-indigo, indigo malonic ester and tetrahydro indigo have been prepared from chloro bridged metal complexes. In comparison to the free neutral indigo ligands the complexes show a high bathochromic shift in the VIS spectra (150-300 nm) which is mainly due to the anionic character of the coordinated indigo ligands. From these only the glycine derivative 1 showed significant antimalarial activity in in vitro tests against Plasmodium falciparum

 Abstract    Dichloro-bis(triphenylphosphine)platinum(II) (2) and Dichloro-l,2-bis(diphenylphos-phine)ethane-palladium(II) (3) do react with hydrogensulfide and sodiumsulfide under formation of the corresponding compounds Di-hydrogensulfido-l,2-bis(diphenylphos-phine)ethane-palladium(II) (4), Disodiumsulfido-l,2-bis(diphenylphosphine)ethane-palla-dium(II) (7), Di-hydrogensulfido-bis(triphenylphosphine)platinum(II) (1) and Di-sodium-sulfido-bis(triphenylphosphine)platinum(II) (8). 2 and 3 react with sodiumhydrogen-selenide under formation of Di-hydrogenselenido-l,2-bis(diphenylphosphine)ethane-palladium(II) (5) and Di-hydrogenselenido-bis(triphenylphosphine)platinum(II) (6). IR and *H NMR spectra are reported.

 Abstract    The new compounds SEPdP (SE = L a -G d), which were prepared by heating the elements, crystallize with a modified N i2In-type structure. The phosphides o f SE = D y -L u attain the orthorhombic TiNiSi-type structure. A comparison o f the cell volumes suggests that europium has intermediate valence in EuPdP.

The crystal structure is characterized by isolated planar P d 0 4 polygons incorporated into a framework o f edge-and corner-sharing doubly capped BaO s cubes and edge-and face-sharing L n 0 6 prisms.

 Abstract    The reaction of 2-imino-l,3-dimethylimidazoline (10, ImNH) with X-CH2CH2-X (11, X = p-CH3C6 H4 S 0 3) gives the diimine adduct ImN-CH2CH2-NIm • 2 HX (12) from which the diimine ImN-CH2CH2-NIm (13) is obtained on treatment with KH. 13 reacts with (C6H5CN)2PdCl2 (15) to give the chelate complex (ImN-CH2CH2-NIm)PdCl2 (16). The X-ray structures of 12 and 16 are reported.

 Title    Darstellung und Kristallstruktur von Palladiumoxidchlorid Pd2OCl2 Preparation and Crystal Structure of Palladium Oxide Chloride Pd:OCl2  
 Abstract    Pd2O C l2 was obtained by reaction o f y-PdCl2 and PdO • rcH20 in a K N 0 3/N a N 0 3 melt at 450 °C. Single crystals were grown from a T1C1 flux. The crystal structure o f the tetragonal com pound (a = 631.3(2) pm, c -987.2(2) pm, space group R ^ am d) is built up from bands of edge shared square planar PdO :Cl2 groups connected by com m on O -atom s to a framework. The relationship betw een the structures o f Pd2O Cl2 and PdO is discussed.

 Abstract    The Pd-catalyzed oxidative coupling reaction of methyl o-toluate gives, in the presence of a Pd/l,10-phenanthroline(phen)/Cu catalyst, exclusively, the para-linked biphenyldicarboxy-lates 1, 2, and 3. On the other hand, the meta-linked biphenyldicarboxylates 4 and 5, were predominantly formed in a catalyst system of Pd/2,4-pentanedione(acacH)/Cu, and under similar conditions 6 and 7 were also obtained from the coupling reaction of methyl m-toluate and methyl p-toluate, respectively. A reaction scheme has been proposed.
