 Abstract    Imines of salicylaldehyde and 2,6-diformyl-p-cresol have been used as ligands in palla­ d iu m ^) complexes. Enantiomerically pure ligands give enantiomerically pure complexes, racemic ligands give racemates and meso-forms. Differences between the respective isomers of the ligands within the complexes and between the diastereomers of the complexes were investigated. Crystal structure analyses established the trans configuration at the metal center.

 Abstract    Reactions of chloro bridged palladium compounds with di-and tripeptide esters give (Et^P)(Cl)2Pd(NH,CHR1C 0 N H C H R 2C 0 2CH3) and the N,N'-chelate compounds (Et3P)-(Cl)Pd(NH2CH 2C O N C H R 1 C 0 2R 2), [C6H4CH 2NMe2(C,N)]Pd(NH2CH 2C 0 N C H 2C 0 2Et) and (Et3P)Pd(gly-gly-glyOMe-2H+). The structure of (Et3P)(Cl)Pd(gly-alaOMe-H+) was determi­ ned by X-ray diffraction analyses.  Title    X-Ray Structures and Spectral Properties of 4-Coordinate Copper(II) and Palladium(II) Complexes with a Tridentate ONN-Schiff Base Ligand  
 Abstract    The tridentate mono-basic Schiff base N-(2-diethylaminoethyl)salicylaldimine =Hsal-en-NEt2 forms complexes 1 = [(sal-en-NEt2)MY] with divalent metals M (Y = halide). The preparation of three copper(II) complexes la (Y = Br), lb (Y = Cl), and lc (Y = SCN) and one palladium(II) complex 1(1 (Y = Cl) is described and the UV/VIS spectra of these complexes in methanol and chloroform are compared and discussed. The crystals of la • CHCI3, lb • CHCI3, and Id • CHCI3 are all isotypic and crystallize in the ortho-rhombic space group Pbca, whereas the solvent-free crystals of 1 b (and also 1 a) are monoclinic with the space group P2i/c. The metal is 4-coordinate with an almost planar ONNY donor atom arrangement around the palladium and with a distorted arrangement around the copper. The crystals consist of separate non-bridged complex units and the chloroform is not coordinated.

Synthese von a-Aminosäure-Derivaten durch Insertion von Isocyaniden, CO, Alkenen und Alkinen in die Pd-C-Bindung Metal Complexes of Biologically Important Ligands, CIV [ 1]. o/t/20-Palladated Complexes of N,N-Dimethyl-C-phenylglycine-methylester. Synthesis of ct-Amino Acid Derivatives by Insertion of Isocyanides, CO, Alkenes, and Alkynes into the Pd-C Bond  
 Abstract    -phenylglycinemethylester reacts with Pd(OAc)2 in acetic acid to give the orthopalladated, acetato bridged complex 1. Treatment of 1 with sodium halide affords the chlo-ro, bromo, and iodo bridged compounds [Me2N C (H)(C 02Me)C6H4PdX]2 (2a -c) (X = halide). From 2a and 1,1 '-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene the phosphine bridged trinuclear complex 3 is obtained. Substitution of the amine ligand of 2a by the phosphino group is observed for the reaction of 2a with Ph2PC(Me)C(Me)PPh2. Insertion of 2,6-dimethyl-phenylisocyanide, CO, alkyl-vinyl-ketones, and diphenylacetylene into the Pd-C bond o f 2a -c provides the ortho­ substituted organic and organometallic derivatives of phenylglycine 6a -c, 7, 8a -b and 9a -c. The crystal structures of 1, 4a, 6a, 7 and 9a were determined by X-ray diffraction.
