| Enzymatic Conversion of Sex Pheromones in Olfactory Hairs of the Male Silkworm Moth Antheraea polyphemus | | | Abstract
| The sex pheromone compound [6,7-3H]-6,ll-hexadecadienyl acetate is enzymatically converted to its corresponding fatty alcohol, aldehyde and acid in living and homogenized olfactory hairs and in other parts of the antennae of the male silk-moth Antheraea polyphemus. The pheromone is metabolized in vitro mainly in the inner hydrophilic compartments, but scarcely in the outer hydrophobic cuticle of the olfactory hairs. | | |
