 Title    Substituent Effects in the Oxythallation of Alkenes  
 Abstract    The rate constants for oxythallation of alkenes have been correlated with their experi-mental and calculated ionization potentials respectively. A good correlation between the rate constants and the ionization potentials of alkenes was found. It was found that inductive effects were the most important in the oxythallation of RCH —CH2 and RiR2C = CH2 alkenes. From earlier studies [1, 2] it is obvious that the rate determining step of the oxidation of alkenes by thallic salts is the formation of the intermediate oxythallation adduct according to Eq (1): R2C=CR2 + T13+ + H20 -> [CR2(0H)CR2T1]2+ + H+ (1)

 Title    He(I) and He(II) Photoelectron Spectra of Some L3MCo(CO)4 Complexes (M = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb and L = Cl, Br and CH3)  
 Abstract    The He(I) and He(II) photoelectron spectra of L3MCo(CO)4 complexes (M = Si, Ge, Sn, and Pb and L = Cl, Brand CH3) are reported. Bands attributable to the metal-cobalt bond, cobalt 3d and CO orbitals are assigned in agreement with a qualitative MO model. Rela-tivistic effects and He(I)/He(II) intensity ratios prove to be important in assigning these ultraviolet photoelectron spectra.

 Abstract    The appearance potentials of fragment ions from SF5C1 have been m easured in the energy range 12 — 20 eV by means of photoionization mass spectrometry. From these data, the ionization potential of SFs comes to 9.65 eV.
