 Title    The Crystal Structure of SrAs3  
 Abstract    The new intermetallic compound S1A.S3 crystallizes monoclinic, space group C2/m [a = 9.61(1) A, b = 7.63(1) A, c = 5.88(1) A, ß — 112.9(1)°). The anionic part of the struc-ture contains puckered layers of two-and threebonded As-atoms.

 Title    The Crystal Structures of U2Cu3 AL and UCUA12, and their Relationship with Some Other Phases in the System U-Cu-Al  
 Abstract    X-ray investigations of a great number of samples along the specifically chosen tie-lines in the isothermal sections of the system U-Cu-Al (800 °C) indicated the existence of two new ordered ternary phases, i.e. U2CU3A1 and UCUA12. The first one is hexagonal (S. G. P63/mmc, MgZn2-type), with a = 5.065 ± 0.005 A, c = 8.307 ± 0.005 A and c/a = 1.640. The ordered atomic arrangement of all atoms, as confirmed by trial and error method is consistent with a rather uncommon superstructure of the MgZn2-type. UCUA12 is tetragonal, a = 3.857 ± 0.005 A, c = 8.736 ± 0.005 A, c/a = 2.265, probable space group is I4/mmm, and represents an ordered ternary structure variant of the TiAl3 type. The crystal structures of these two new phases were correlated, in terms of stacking sequences, with those which were identified in this system previously.

 Abstract    New intermetallic indium compounds EuAuIn2, EuPdIn4, GdRhIn2, YbRhln*, and YbPdlru were obtained by reaction of the elements. GdRhIn2 was synthesized in an arc-melting furnace, while EuAuIn2, EuPdln*, YbRhIn4, and YbPdIn4 were prepared in sealed tantalum tubes in a high-frequency furnace. The five compounds were investigated by X-ray diffraction both on powders and single crystals. EuAuIn2 and GdRhIn2 adopt the MgCuA^ type structure

 Title    New Magnesium Compounds /fcE2Cu2Mg (RE = Y, La -Nd, Sm, Gd -Tm, Lu) with Mo2FeB2 Type Structure  
 Abstract    The title compounds were synthesized by reaction of the elements in sealed tantalum tubes in a water-cooled sample chamber in a high-frequency furnace. These magnesium intermetallics crystallize with the tetragonal Mo2FeB2 type structure, space group PMmbm. The lattice pa­ rameters of all compounds were refined from X-ray powder data. Single crystal X-ray data yielded a = 792.09(6), c = 396.31(8) pm, wR2 = 0.0396, 315 F 2 values for La2Cu2Mg, a = 778.30(5), c = 384.04(5) pm, wR2 = 0.0954, 214 F 2 values for Nd2Cu2Mg, and a = 762.65(5), c = 374.09(3) pm, wR2 = 0.0566, 186 F 2 values for Y2Cu2Mg with 12 variable parameters for each refinement. The /?£, 2Cu2Mg structures can be described as an intergrowth of distorted A1B2 and CsCl related slabs of compositions RECui and REMg. Chemical bonding in La2Cu2Mg was investigated on the basis of extended Hückel calculations and compared to isotypic La2Cu2ln. This structure was also refined from single crystal X-ray data: PMmbm, a = 780.8(2), c = 400.1(2) pm, wR2 = 0.0351, 211 F 2 values and 12 variable parameters.

There are Cu-E(V)-Cu-E(V)-zigzag-chains in the structure, in which the Cu-atoms are linearly bonded to the E(V)-atoms.

They are isotypic and crystallize trigonal in the an^-Ce202S-structure with the lattice constants: CaMn2Sb2: a = 4.54(1), c = 7.48(1), c/a = 1.65. SrMn2Sb2: a = 4.56(1), c = 7.70(1), c/a = 1.69. CaMn2Bi2: a = 4.63(1), c = 7.64(1), c/a = 1.65.

 Abstract    G e r h a r d C o r d i e r u n d H e r b e r t S c h ä f e r BaMnSb2, SrMnBi2 and BaMnBi2 have been prepared and structurally characterized. The new compounds are isotypic and crystallize tetragonal in the SrZnBi2 structure with the following constants: BaMnSb2: a = 4.53 ± 0.01 A, c = 24.34 ± 0.03 A, c/a = 5.37. SrMnBi2: a = 4.58 ± 0.01 A , c = 23.13 ± 0.03 A, c/a = 5.05. BaMnBi2: a — 4.63 ± 0.02 A, c = 24.22 i 0.05 A, c/a = 5.23. The transition metal atoms form together with the semimetal atoms sheets of tetragonal pyramids separated by double layers of alkali earth atoms. In these double layers there are inserted Bi/Sb-square nets.

NaCuSe, NaCuTe and NaZnSb crystallize in a PbFCl type, while NaCdSb forms the awta'-PbCl2-structure. KCuSe, KCuTe, KZnP and KZnSb build up the Ni2ln-structure.

 Abstract    The new compound LisNaSiu has been prepared and its crystal structure determined. It crystallizes trigonal, a = 471.0 ± 0.6 pm, c = 3172 ± 5 pm, space group R3m-C3V. Half of the Sn atoms build up a puckered net of connected six-membered rings, the other half is bound to the net atoms, forming a tetrahedral Sn-Sn coordination for these. The structural relations of this Sn sublattice to the diamond lattice are discussed. Einführung

 Abstract    SrZnSb2 has been prepared and characterized analytically and structurally. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic system with a = 2305 ± 5 pm, b = 437 ± 1 pm, c = 446 i 1 pm, Pnma-D|j>. Zn-and Sb-atoms form distorted fourfold pyramids, con-nected by common edges in the basis to two-dimensional sheets. These sheets are sepa-rated by double layers of Sr-atoms in which further Sb-atoms are located building four-cornered networks.

 Abstract    The new compound CaMnBi2 has been analytically and structurally characterized. CaMnBi2 crystallizes in the tetragonal system (a — 450 ^ 1 pm, c = 1108 ± 2 pm, space group P4/nmm). Mn and Bi atoms form fourfold pyramids, connected by common edges in the basis to two-dimensional sheets. These sheets are separated by double layers of Ca atoms between which further Bi atoms are located forming squarenets. The structure is strongly related to that of SrZnSb2 which can be interpreted as a distorted variant of the new CaMnBi 2 type.
