 Title    Darstellungen und Strukturen viergliedriger Metall-Stickstoff-Ringe Preparations and Structures of Four-Membered Metal-Nitrogen Rings  
 Abstract    Ph 3 P=NSiMe 3 (1) reacts with InCl 3 , SnCl, and FeCl, to yield (Ph,P=N) 2 (InCl 2) 2 • 2 DMF (2a), (Ph 3 P=N) 2 Sn 2 Cl 4 • 2 CH 3 CN (3a) and (Ph 3 P=N) 2 (FeCl 2) 2 (4). The X-ray single crystal structures of 2a, 3a and 4 are reported. The compounds form four-membered rings consisting of alternating metal and nitrogen atoms. 2a and 4 are symmetrical, but 3a has both a Sn(II)Cl and a Sn(IV)Cl 3 group in the four-membered ring.

 Title    The Synthesis of Some Cyclopentadienyliron-Indium Complexes  
 Abstract    Treatm ent o f indium trichloride with three equivalents of the cyclopentadienyliron carbonyl anions, [F e(C O)2(?7-C5H 4R)] (R = H, Me) affords the tri-iron indium com plexes [In {F e(C O)2(//-C 5H 4R)},] (R = H. Me) as dark red crystalline materials. Both com pounds were characterized by spectroscopic and analytical methods. Infrared spectroscopy indicates that both com plexes are undissociated in solution in contrast to previously reported analogous m olybdenum containing species.

 Title    Zur Kenntnis eines synthetischen Kentrolits/Melanotekits des Indiums: On an Synthetic Kentrolite/Melanotekite of Indium: Pb2In2Si20 9  
 Abstract    Single crystals of Pb2In2Si20 9 have been prepared by crystallisation from melts of Pb(N 03)2, ln20 3 and S i0 2. The compound crystallizes with orthorhombic symmetry, space group C2v-Pna2| with the lattice constants a = 10.529(1),/?= 11.372(1) and c = 7.019(3) A, Z = 4. Despite the fact that the Kentrolite/Melanotekite structure is characterized by dissimilar occupied split positions of lead, Pb2In2Si20 9 shows completely filled and ordered point positions. The location of a dot like lone pair of Pb~+ is estimated by Coulomb term calculations of lattice energy. The results are discussed with respect to published Pb-lone pair distances using the electronic polarizability coefficient of the lone pair cation or simple geometrical considerations.

 Title    New Indides EuAuIn2, EuPdIn4, G dR hIn2, Y bR hIn4, and YbPdIn4  
 Abstract    New intermetallic indium compounds EuAuIn2, EuPdIn4, GdRhIn2, YbRhln*, and YbPdlru were obtained by reaction of the elements. GdRhIn2 was synthesized in an arc-melting furnace, while EuAuIn2, EuPdln*, YbRhIn4, and YbPdIn4 were prepared in sealed tantalum tubes in a high-frequency furnace. The five compounds were investigated by X-ray diffraction both on powders and single crystals. EuAuIn2 and GdRhIn2 adopt the MgCuA^ type structure

 Title    K34[Zn2oIn85]: Eine ternäre Auffüllungsvariante des /?-rhomboedrischen Bors  
 Abstract    In the crystal structure of K34[Zn2()In85] (a = 1827.7(5) pm, c = 3980.5(8) pm, R3m , Nr. 166, Z = 3, R1 = 0.056, wR2 = 0.124) the In and Zn atoms form the /3-rhombohedral boron structure. The structure contains In84 Samson polyhedra, and clusters of 18 In and 10 Zn atoms, forming three In12 icosahedra sharing two common triangular faces. The potassium atoms occupy the centres of truncated tetrahedra -forming the Samson polyhedra -and Kasper polyhedra.

 Abstract    Single crystals of BaIn2Zn30 7 have been prepared by solid state reaction and crystallization from flux. X-ray investigations led to hexagonal symmetry, space group C6V-P6 3mc, lattice constants a = 6.342(1), c = 10.282(1) A, Z = 2. BaIn2Zn30 7 shows tetrahedral positions statistically occupied by In3+ and Zn2+. The crystal structure is isotypic to Ba2Ln2Zn80 13 and BaLnAlZn30 7. A discussion of the related compounds is given.
