 Title    Stable Carbene Adducts of Chlorine [1]  
 Abstract    The carbene adducts 3a-c (R 1 = Me, Et, iso-Pr; R2 = Me) are formed from the 2,3-dihydro-imidazol-2-ylidenes la-c and 1,2-dichloroethane as air-sensitive solids in good yields. The compounds exhibit a reactive Cl-Cl bond. Benzene is chlorinated by 3a,b to give chlorobenzene and the imidazolium salts 10a,b under mild conditions. 3c acts as a chloride donor to give with AICI3 and S 0 2 the 2-chloroimidazolium salts 12c andl3c (X = A1C14, S 0 2C1). On hydrolysis, the less reactive hydrate salt 14c is formed from 3c. The X-ray structures of 10a and 14c are reported.

 Title    Zur Kristallstruktur von Sr6(Cr04)3Cl On the Crystal Structure of Sr5(Cr04)3Cl  
 Abstract    Single crystal X-ray investigation shows that Sr5(Cr04)3Cl is not isotypic with the apatite structure as being affirmed up to now. Chlorine occupies a position other than z = 0.250 implying the lower symmetry Cg-P63. As a consequence one strontium coordination sphere changes from octahedral to trigonal prismatic.

 Title    Abhängigkeit der Chlor-Isotopenseparation vom Vernetzungsgrad eines stark basischen Anionenaustauschers Dependence of Chlorine Isotope Separation on the Degree of Cross Linkage of a Strongly Basic Anion Exchange Resin  
 Abstract    Using ion exchange chromatography, the dependence of the chlorine isotope separation on the degree of cross linkage of a strongly basic anion exchange resin was investigated. With increasing degree of cross linkage the elementary separation effect for the two stable isotopes 35 C1 and 37 C1 increases. In all experiments 35 C1~ is enriched in the resin phase, whereas 37 C1~ is enriched in the solution, using 0.1 M NaNC>3 as an eluant. Within the degree of cross linkage of 2 to 10 per cent investigated, there is a linear correlation of the elementary separation effect of the chlorine isotopes with the selectivity coefficient between the ions NO3"" and Cl -. The results show that the electrolyte behavior of anionic isotope exchange reactions is comparable with that of cations. The 35 C1/ 37 C1 isotope ratio is determined using thermal ionization mass spectrometry.  Abstract    Single crystals o f Ba5(M g0 4Mn0 6)(V20 7)2MnCl6 have been prepared by solid state reactions of M g C 0 3, Mn20 3, V20<i and BaCl2 -2H20 below the melting point of BaCl2. The new vanadium oxide chloride crystallizesowith monoclinic symmetry, space group C2h-P2/c, a = 13.345(4), b = 5.711(2), c = 15.859(4) Ä, ß = 113.69(2)°, Z = 2. Special features of the crystal structure are isolated MnCl6 octahedra and layers created by divanadat groups and (M g,M n)06 octahedra. The ^ [(Mg,Mn)V20 7] nets of Ba5(Mg0 4Mn0 6)(V20 7)2MnCl6 are discussed with respect to other oxohalogeno vanadates containing divanadate groups.

 Title    Chlor-Isotopenseparation an einem wasserhaltigen Zirkondioxidaustauscher Chlorine Isotope Separation Using an Hydrous Zirconium Dioxide Exchanger  
 Abstract    zirconium dioxide is used in column experiments for separating the halide ions as well as for isotope fractionation of chlorine. The preparation of the zirconium dioxide particles is carried out by homogeneous hydrolysis of a zirconyl chloride solution using hexamethylenetetramine. The separation order of the halides is I -, Br -and Cl -in contrast to the inverse separation order using a strongly basic anion exchange resin. In chlorine isotope separation experiments an enrichment of 35 C1~ is found in the first fractions, whereas the last fractions show a significant enrichment of 37 C1~. This also indicates an inversion of the isotope separation compared with a strongly basic anion exchange resin. A dependence of the isotope fractionation on the concentration of the NaNC>3 solution used as eluant is found. With increasing concentration the isotope fractionation decreases. Using a 0.5 M NaN03 solution the elementary separation effect was calculated e = 6,1 • 10~ 4 . This is one of the highest isotope fractionations known in a chloride isotope exchange system. The results show that the electrolyte behaviour of isotopes is comparable to that of a series of homologous elements.
