| The infrared spectra o f a series o f cadmium substituted calcium hydroxylapatites o f the type C aH)_;cC dv(P 0 4)6(0 H)2, were investigated in order to obtain insight on the effect o f the Cd(II) ion on the vibrational properties o f the P 0 4_ and O H " groups. The effect o f the substitutional process on the strength o f the P -O bonds was also checked by Raman Spectroscopy and an analysis o f the behaviour o f the deuterated C a5C d5(P 0 4)6(0 D) 2 phase was undertaken. The strength o f the P -O bonds shows a linear dependence on the Cd(II) content, whereas the OH-vibrational modes present a more com plex behaviour. | | | |
