Title    Phymateus leprosus (Fabricius) (Pyrgomorphidae, Orthoptera)
Abstract    The bushhopper Phymateus leprosus (Fabricius) in the field shows a special appetite for the milkweed Asclepias fruticosa. Asclepiadaceae, like Apocynaceae and Scrophulariaceae, contain cardiac glycosides. Raw and purified extracts of these plants phagostimulate larval and adult P. leprosus. We also screened natural and half-synthetic compounds found in those plant extracts. While saponins and sapogenins did not stimulate the animals, many cardiac glycosides and aglycones, offered on filter paper, proved to be phagostimulants.

Title    Isolation of a New seco-nor-Triterpenol from Hoya australis Leaf Wax
Abstract    From the alcohol fraction of the epicuticular leaf wax of Hoya australis R. Br. ex Traill, a new triterpenol was isolated which, according to mass spectral and NMR data, is assumed to be A-seco-A-nor-Zl 12-oleanenol.

Title    Investigations on Hoya Species. III. Leaf Phenolics and Latex Lipids of Hoya lacunosa Bl.
Abstract    Hoya lacunosa leaves contain some main C-glycosylflavonoids, which were identified as: 6-C-arabinosyl 8-C-glucosylapigenin (isoschaftoside), 6-C-glucosyl 8-C-arabinosylapigenin (schaftosi-de) and 6,8-di-C-arabinosylapigenin. In the latex triterpenols were found, often both free and in ester form, of which /?-amyrin, a-amyrin, lupeol, 24-methylenecycloartanol, obtusifoliol and cyclo-eucalenol were identified in the free alcohol fraction. The esters, forming the m ajor part o f the to tal lipid fraction, were solely acetates o f some of the above mentioned alcohols.
