 Title    Nitrogen-14 SQ U ID N Q R of L-Ala-L-His and of Serine  
 Abstract    In honor of Professor Dr. Werner Miiller-Warmuth on his 65 th birthday 14N nuclear quadrupole resonance spectroscopy, detected with a Superconducting Quantum Interference Device, makes possible the study of nitrogen environments in amino acids and small peptides. The present experiments characterize: 1) the effects of intermolecular interactions upon the amino nitrogen of serine upon cocrystallization of the stereoisomers in a range of concentrations; 2) the changes of the amino and imidazole nitrogen environments brought about by combining L-Alanine and L-Histidine into the dipeptide L-Ala-L-His.

 Title    EPR Studies of Cu 2+ in dl-Aspartic Acid Single Crystals  
 Abstract    EPR studies of Cu 2+ doped dl-Aspartic Acid [NH 2 CH(CH 2 COOH)COO] powder and single crystal have been carried out at 113 and 300 K. The principal hyperfine and g values, covalancy parameter, mixing coefficients and Fermi-contact term of the complex were obtained, and the ground-state wavefuntion of the Cu 2+ ion in the lattice has been constructed.

 Title    /-Modulation in ID NMR l H Spectrum of Taurine and Aspartate Using Spin-Echo Technique  
 Abstract    This study reports on a theoretical calculation of Hahn's spin-echo experiment in case of a model A 2 Bt spin system with a strongly coupling character and gives the experimental results of one-dimen-sion n H high-resolution NMR spectra of taurine and aspartate. The calculated amplitudes of the spin-echoes for two different proton groups of taurine are given. Using results of our calculations for tau-rine, the computer simulations of /-modulation are implemented. It is shown that the agreement be-tween the experimental and simulated spectra is good.
