Title    Synthesis of Spirocyclic Aminosilanes with Electron Withdrawing Substituents at Nitrogen
Abstract    The first synthesis of spirocyclic tetrasulfonamidosilanes is described. According to the X-Ray structure analysis of the most stable tetratosylamidosilane obtained the Silicon is bonded to four Nitrogen atoms in a spirocycle and surrounded by four Oxygen atoms which are located above the planes of the SiN4 tetrahedron.

Title    Synthesis and Spectroscopic Properties of 1,2-Diiminetricarbonyl- rhenium(I)chloride Complexes with Aliphatic Diimines (or 1,4-Diaza-l,3-butadienes) as Ligands
Abstract    Re(l,2-diimine)(CO)3Cl complexes with the aliphatic bidentate ligands diiminosuccino-dinitrile (DISN), benzilbisanile (BEAN), bisacetylbisanile (BABA), and benzildiimine (BE DIM) are reported. The compounds show Re(I) to 7r*(diimine) metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) absorptions in the visible spectral region. The energy of these MLCT-transitions de creases in the series BABA > BEDIM > BEAN > DISN, depending on the 7r* acceptor properties of the coordinated diimine ligands. The maxima of these CT bands undergo a solvent-dependent shift (negative solvatochromism), which indicates a partial charge redistribution in the excited state. The compounds are not photoluminescent at room temperature and 77 K.

Orthopalladated Enolates from N-(Diphenylmethylene) Schiff Bases of a-Amino Acid Esters as Ambivalent 1,3-Dipoles in [2+3] Cycloadditions. Structures of a Series of Cycloadducts
Abstract    Enolates of ortho-palladated N-(diphenylmethylene) Schiff bases from glycine esters (R3P)Pd[(C6H4)(C6H5)C=N-C(R')=C0 2R] were isolated and have been shown to be ambiva lent 1,3-dipoles in [2+3] cycloadditions. Tetracyanoethene, dimethyl acetylene dicarboxylate, dimethyl azodicarboxylate, thiobenzophenone, thione-S, 4-phenyl-l,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione, diphenyl-ketene and phenylisocyanate are added at the palladium and the enolate (a-C) carbon atoms, whereas methyl propiolate, methyl acrylate, and the methyl esters of maleic and fumaric acid form [2+3] cycloadducts with the «-carbon and the imino carbon atoms of the enolates un der mild conditions. The structures of seven cycloadducts were determined by X-ray diffraction analyses.

 Title    Synthesis of l,2-Dipalmitoyloxypropyl-3-(2-ammoniumethyl) Phosphinate
Abstract    The total synthesis of l,2-dipalmitoyloxypropyl-3-(2-ammoniumethyl) phosphinate, the phos-phino-analog of phosphatidyl ethanolamine is described. The phosphinate analog of phosphatidyl ethanolamine has been prepared by an Arbusov type of reaction between a diacyl-glycerol bromohydrin and 2-bromo-ethylphosphonic acid dimethyl ester for 48 h at 178 °C, followed by a reaction with aq. ammonia to yield the final product. The product was characterized by elemental analysis, phosphono-phosphorus determinations and IR spectroscopy.

Title    Stimulation of Calmodulin Binding to Skeletal Muscle Membrane Proteins by 1,25-Dihydroxy-Vitamin D 3
Abstract    Previous work has shown that 1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin D 3 rapidly increases calmodulin lev els of skeletal muscle membranes without altering the muscle cell calmodulin content. There fore, the effects of the sterol on the binding of calmodulin to specific muscle membrane pro teins were investigated. Soleus muscles from vitamin D-deficient chicks were treated in vitro for short intervals (5-15 min) with physiological concentrations of 1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin D 3. Proteins of mitochondria and microsomes isolated by differential centrifugation were sep arated on sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gels. Calmodulin-binding proteins were identified by a [125I]calmodulin gel overlay procedure followed by autoradiography. 1,25-Di-hydroxy-vitamin D 3 increased the binding of labelled calmodulin to a major, calcium-inde pendent, calmodulin-binding protein of 28 Kda localized in microsomes, and to minor calmo dulin-binding proteins of 78 and 130 Kda proteins localized in mitochondria. The binding of [125I]calmodulin to these proteins was abolished by flufenazine or excess non-radioactive cal modulin. 1,25-Dihydroxy-vitamin D 3 rapidly increased muscle tissue Ca uptake and cyclic AM P levels and stimulated the phosphorylation of several membrane proteins including those whose calmodulin-binding capacity potentiates. Analogously to the sterol, forskolin increased membrane calmodulin content, calmodulin binding to the 28 Kda microsomal protein and 45Ca uptake by soleus muscle preparations. Forskolin also induced a similar profile of changes in muscle membrane protein phosphorylation as the hormone. These results suggest that 1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin D 3 affects calmodulin distribution in muscle cells through cyclic AMP-de-pendent phosphorylation of membrane calmodulin-binding proteins. These changes may play a role in the stimulation of muscle Ca uptake by the sterol.

Title    Silaheterocyclen, XVII Synthese und Cycloadditionsreaktionen neuartiger, aminocyclischer Silaethene [1] Silaheterocycles, XVII Synthesis and Cycloaddition Reactions of Novel Amino Cyclic Silenes [1]
Abstract    The silene 2 is formed by reacting 2-chloro-l,3-bis(trimethylsilyl)-2-vinyl-1,3-diaza-2-silacyclopentane (5) with LiBu' in «-pentane in the tem perature range from -1 0 to +10 °C. The reaction primarily leads to the corresponding a-lithio adduct 6 by addition of the Li-organyl to the vinyl group o f 5; subsequent 1,2-LiCl elimination yields 2 as an intermediate. 2 can be trapped by polar reagents M e3SiX (X = OMe, 0 S 0 2C F 3) as well as by organic dienes which add across the Si = C bond; in the absence of trapping agents, trisilacyclohexane 7 is isolated. The cycloaddition behaviour of 2 is best described by the two mesomeric formulae (a) and (ß), with competitive [4+2] and [2 + 2] addition routes: While with butadienes and norbor-na-2,5-diene the [2 + 2] products are formed mainly in a multiple step reaction via zwitterionic intermediates (1,4 dipoles), the ratio o f the [4+2]/[2 + 2] derivatives from 2 and cyclohexa-1,3-diene becomes nearly equivalent. 2 is thus quite com parable in its reactivity to dichloro-neopentylsilene, Cl2Si = C H C H 2Bu'.

The new products were characterized by 'H -and 13C NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, 31P NMR spectroscopy in the case of 4a. 6 and 7, and mass spectrometry (4a). Single-crystal X-ray structural analyses of compounds 4a and 7 were conducted. The phosphorus atom of 4a has the expected tetrahedral geometry, with a rather short P-S bond of 204.9(2) pm. In 7 the geometry at phosphorus is almost ideal trigonal bipyramidal. Weak hydrogen bonds are formed from a C (:0) group to deuterochloroform of solvation.
