The reaction of 3 with pivaloyl chloride only affords the diacylphosphido com plex 5c. The mechanism of these transformations is discussed.  Abstract    X -R ay, Silicon-N itrogen Bond Length, (d-p)jr-In teraction s, N -M ethyl-dim esylam ine, N-Trim ethylsilyl-dim esylam ine The crystal and molecular structures o f two dim esylam ine derivatives, R N (S 0 2C H 3)2, (R = S i(C H 3) 3 (l a) , R —C H 3 (l b)) were determ ined. Com pound l a displays a very long S i -N bond which is well outside the range normally found in com parable com pounds (185.1 pm, mean value for two crystallographically independent m olecules). The unusually large bond length can be explained by the absence o f (d —p)jr interactions betw een silicon and nitrogen. In both com ­ pounds the bonding geom etry around the nitrogen atoms is essentially planar.

 Title    Characterisation of Metal Binding Sites for 8-Azaguanine and 8-Azahypoxanthine Derivatives Synthesis and X-Ray Structural Analysis of Methylmercury(II) and Zinc(II) Complexes  
 Abstract    8 -A zaguanine, 8 -A zahypoxanthine, M ethylmercury(II) C om plexes The com plexes [(C H 3 H g)A G uaH ] (1) and [(CH 3 H g)2A G ua] • H 20 (2) have been isolated from aqueous 1:1 and 2:1 solutions o f C H 3H gO H and 8 -azaguanine (A G u aH 2) at respective pH values o f 5 and 9. O nly one C H 3H g + com plex o f 8 -azahypoxanthine (A H xH 2), nam ely [(C H 3H g)2A H x] (3), could be isolated under analogous conditions. X-ray structural analyses established N 1 and N 9 as m etal binding sites in 3 and N 9 as the coordination position in [Z n(H 2 0) 4 (A H x H)2] (4). With 8-aza-9-benzylhypoxanthine (9-B zA H xH) only one C H 3H g + com plex [(C H 3H g)9-B zA H x] (5) could be isolated in the pH range 2 -1 0 . N 1 was established by X-ray structural analysis as the binding site. The relevance o f these findings to an understanding of ligand behaviour o f the antineoplastic agent 8 -azaguanine is discussed.

 Abstract    [1] Sila-Substitution des Akarizids Fenbutatinoxid und einiger seiner Derivate: Synthese und Eigenschaften von Hexakis[(dimethylphenylsilyl)methyl]distannoxan und Tris[(dimethylphenylsilyl)methyl](l,2,4-triazoI-l-yl)stannan Sila-Pharmaca, 35th Communication [1] Sila-Substitution of the Acaricide Fenbutatinoxide and Some of its Derivatives: Synthesis and Properties of Hexakis[(dimethylphenylsilyl)methyl]distannoxane and Tris[(dim ethylphenylsilyl)m ethyl](l,2,4-triazol-l-yl)stannane Starting from SnCl4. hexasila-fenbutatinoxide (2b) [a silicon analogue o f the acaricide fen­ butatinoxide (2b)] and its derivatives lb and 3b were prepared (SnCl4 —> lb —» 2b —> 3b). The distannoxanes 2a and 2b were found to react very easily with H20 to give the corresponding stan n ols4a and 4b, respectively. In solution (Q ,D ,,or CDC13) the equilibria 2 a/2b + H20 ^ 2 4a/4b were observed ('H N M R). With regard to the system 2a/4a/H20 , this observation is at variance with an earlier report in which the sterically bulky neophyl substituents [C6H 5 (C H 3)2C C H 2] are said to prevent the condensation o f 4a to give 2a. — l b —3b were found to be potent acaricides showing activities similar to those o f their carbon analogues l a —3a (test organisms: adult fem ales o f Tetranychus urticae Koch).

 Abstract    10/May 13, 1986 2,2,4,4-Tetrathio-Substituted 1,3-D iaza-2A \4/.''-diphosphetidines, cis-and frans-Isomers, Crystal Structure Reaction of py • PS:C1 (py = pyridine) with benzyl amine in the presence of N E t3 yields triethyl-ammonium 1,3-dibenzyl-2,4-dithioxo-l ,3-diaza-2A \4/.5-diphosphetidine-2,4-dithiolate which reacts with M el to give the corresponding methyl ester. By fractional crystallization from cyclo-hexane three modifications of the methyl ester were obtained (two trans-(A and A ') and one cis-modification (B)). The crystal structure of these modifications have been determ ined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal data: A: triclinic, space group P I , Z = 2, a — 7.100(3), b = 10.088(6), c = 17.785(6) Ä , a — 99.18(4)°,/? = 93.75(5)°, y = 106.96(4)°, A ': monoclinic, P2,/c, Z — 2, a = 7.933(3), b = 13.689(3), c = 9.917(4) Ä, ß = 111.98(3)°; B: orthorhom bic, P cab, Z = 8 .a = 12.962(6), b = 16.581(6), c = 19.475(7).

 Abstract    By reaction of CS2 with m aleonitrile in presence of sodium ethanolate in ethanol, N a2S2C4N 2 is obtained. SrS2C4N2-5 H 20 was synthesized by reaction of Sr(NCS) 2 with N a2S2C4N2 in ethanol. It crystallizes monoclinically, space group P2!/c, with a = 9.201(2), b — 9.990(6), c = 14.605(5) Ä,/3 = 122.3(3)°, Z = 4. The com pound is isotypical with CaS2C4N2-5 H 20 . A structural model based on equivalent metal positions was refined to R -0.057. The crystal structure contains layers of nearly planar [S2C = C (C N)2]2' anions held together by interspersed Sr2+ cations in a tricapped trigonal prismatic surrounding of 6 0 and 3N atoms. The S atom s of the ligand are not included in the coordination sphere of Sr2+ but are involved in several O — H -S hydrogen bonds.

 Abstract    Mo(CO)2(PPh3)2(MeCN)(f/2-S02), Kristall-und Molekülstruktur von ci5-Mo(CO)2(PMe3)3(i/2-S02) [1] Ligand Substitution at c/s-Mo(CO)2(PPh3)2(M e C N)(77:-S0 2), Crystal and Molecular Structure of d 5-M o(CO)2(PM e3)3(/72-S0 2) [1] M o (C O)2(PPh3)2(MeCN)(?72-SC)2) reacts with a number of unidentate or tridentate phosphines with displacement of both MeCN and PPh3. Mixtures of up to three different isomers are obtained the structures of which are assigned by IR , 'H, 13C, and 31P N M R , and in one case by X-ray crystallography. The results support earlier observations concerning the relationship between the disposition of donor and acceptor ligands around the metal and the bonding mode of SO ; .

 Abstract    X-Ray, D ichloro M onothiodibenzoylm ethanato In dium M onothiodibenzoylm ethane Indium trichloride reacts with 2 moles of m onothiodibenzoylm ethane (L H) in the presence of sodium acetate to yield In C l2L (L H). According to an X-ray structure analysis the molecule possesses a hexacoordinated indium atom with two chlorine atoms in cis position and two sulfur atoms in trans position. The symmetry of the molecule is C 2 imposed by a crystallographic twofold axis. The unique hydrogen atom , assumed to form an intermolecular hydrogen bridge between oxygen atoms could not be detected in the structure analysis.
