 Title     
 Abstract    e s tin g o f S ta b ility a n d S p e c tro s c o p ic R e s p o n s e o f N i O (O H) / N i 2S i /n + /n -S i-P h o to a n o d e * A stable multilayer n-type silicon photoanode is produced by evaporating or sputtering a thin nickel film on the silicon surface and subsequently annealing in argon atmosphere. Its properties are investigated under various conditions. Under irradiation with intense light at a constant potential, no appreciable decrease of the photocurrent was observed during a period of 100 hours, while oxygen gas was evolved. The action spectra of this photoanode, measured under different potentials, showed that its absorption extends in a broad region. The basis set has been optimized with respect to the polarisability and second hyperpolarisability of H20. The effect of intermolecular interactions, in the water clusters and the hydrates of the ions on their polarisability and hyperpolarisabilities, and their variation with charge, shape and size of the aggregates is discussed.

In all mixed crystals of [M^Crj _ J 20 3-type with x < 0.15 a variation of the ESR line width according to AB(x) = AB{0) [1 — ax] was found. While AB decreases with x as expected for M = Al, Ga and Sc, it increases for M = In, Y, Lu, La and Bi. This behaviour cannot be explained by magnetic delution alone. By considering the local distor­ tions in an antiferromagnetic compound caused by incorporated foreign ions, a statistical model is developed that describes the observed AB(x) behaviour quantitatively.

 Abstract    Frequency dependent permittivity measurements on liq­ uid mixtures of both substances in the relaxation region of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (MPy) show two spectral compo­ nents originating from MPy. Pure MPy, on the other hand, exhibits only one component. The components are discussed as due to the microheterogenity of the mixtures.

 Abstract    a g n e tic F ie ld M a p p in g a n d N M R I m a g in g by M u lti-F r e q u e n c y S Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of selectively excited protons has been used for magnetic field mapping in a 1.5 T whole body imager. The imaging has been performed with a modified two pulse SENEX sequence, adapted to single-or multislice operation. The usual spin-echo image is superimposed by field markers which are created by a periodic non-excitation. Results of the method in the fields of image quality control, influence of the susceptibility of an object, and shim and gradient current field response are presented.

 Abstract    x c ita tio n E n e rg y T r a n s p o r t a n d C o n c e n tr a tio n D e p o la riz a tio n o f D o n o r F lu o re s c e n c e in T w o -C o m p o n e n t V isc o u s S o lu tio n s * The concentration depolarization of the fluorescence of rhodamine B (donor) in the presence of malachite green (acceptor) was investigated in a glycerol-ethanol mixture with constant ratios of the reduced concentrations of the donor and acceptor (system I: yD /yA = 1, system II: yD /yA — 19). A marked effect of the configuration of the active molecules surrounding the successively excited donors upon the emission anisotropy was found in system I, having strong fluorescence quenching and weak migration, whereas in system II, with strong migration and weak fluorescence quenching, this effect is smaller. The results are discussed based on the up-to-date theories of the concentration depolarization of fluorescence.

For high initial plasma density (~1018cm-3) rapid cooling Itr^ 10"13 sec) should produce a short pulse laser oscillation. For medium initial density (~ 10" cm"3), stationary laser oscillation can be produced by much slower cooling (t£ ~ 10" 8 sec) but on cooling with x£ > 10"7 sec the oscillation can hardly be realized. For lower initial plasma density (^ 1015cm~3), laser oscillation is not possible because the population inversion obtained is not sufficient.

 Abstract    In wavellites from two different localities EPR spectra of V02+ ions were detected and analyzed. The most prominent center was axial within the limits of error with g = 1.932, gxx = gyy = 1.948, Azz = 171.8 and Axx = A = 54.7 (A in 10~4cm). The orientation of the z-axis proves that the Al —OH group with the shortest AI —O bond is substituted by the V02+ ion. Additional spectra of much lower relative intensity with different orientation of their z-axes can also be assigned to certain Al —O combinations.

The aim of this work was to obtain structural information on the complex formation between the Cerium and the Perchlorate group and on the C104 — H20 interactions. The NMR data, the correlation functions and the analysis of the structure functions agree with the literature information about the Ce —(0C103). species present in aqueous solutions. Good agree­ ment with experimental data is achieved through a model in which the Perchlorate ions are bonded as monodentate ligands to the Cerium(III). No complex formation is confirmed for Mg(II). The cations also possess a second coordination shell of water molecules. Some indications have been obtained supporting the presence of C104 — H20 contacts.

The force field is refined by adjusting the symmetry force constants to fit the observed frequencies. The final force field, potential energy distribution (PED), mean amplitudes of vibration and the standard thermodynamic functions from spectroscopic data are also given for the title compounds.

The v3 fundamental has been reinvestigated and the overall assignment of the rovibrational transitions has been carried out. From the least-squares analysis a more accurate set of molecular constants including the sextic centrifugal distortion constants has been determined for the level v3 = 1 and will be reported here. The higher resolution achieved here allowed the assignment of weaker lines and many Q branch transitions. Moreover many blended lines have now been resolved and could be properly assigned.

 Abstract    r a v ita tio n as a C o m p o site P a rtic le E ffe c t in a U n ifie d S p in o r-I s o s p in o r P re o n F ield M o d el I The model is defined by a selfregularizing nonlinear preon field equation, and all observable (elementary and non-elementary) particles are assumed to be bound (quantum) states of fermionic preon fields. Electroweak gauge bosons, leptons, quarks, gluons as preon composites and their effective dynamics etc. were studied in preceding papers. In this paper gravitons are introduced as four-preon composites and their effective interactions are discussed. This discussion is performed by the application of functional quantum theory to the model under consideration and subsequent evaluation of a weak mapping procedure, both introduced in preceding papers. In the low energy limit it is demonstrated that the effective graviton dynamics lead to the complete homogeneous Einstein equations in tetrad formulation.
